Today is World Hospice and Palliative Care Day.

As we near our 40th anniversary serving the Central Kenai Peninsula, we want to take this time to thank all of our community for the support you continually show and provide for our organization.

At HOCP every day is Hospice Day, whether we are working with our clients and their families, helping serve our community through the loan closet, educating on end-of-life, or giving support and care for those grieving - we are proud to be here for everyone!

Let this post be an encouragement to check in on someone you know who is going through and end-of-life situation. Reach out to someone you know who has lost someone they love recently. Just send a little note letting them know you're thinking of them. You don't have to have words of wisdom or have the ability to fix anything - reaching out is enough.

And, if you see one of our board members, staff members, or most importantly our volunteers today: throw a little encouragement their way. Without our volunteers HOCP could not do all that we offer.

You all came through big time with your generous donations last week! We are beyond grateful. (Not shown is everything donated waiting to be tagged and the stuff that went out as quickly as we unboxxed/tagged them!)

We are sad to announce we have had to cancel the upcoming volunteer training due to lack of sign ups. We hope to hold a training in January for those who are contemplating taking the class.

We are so thankful for the support for Camp Mend-A-Heart from the Kenai Peninsula Foundation. We are expanding our after camp activities thanks to their generousity!

Becca says she was "so happy and proud" to be one of the programs awarded.

Last call for past and present Camp Mend-A-Heart campers to join us for a post camp movie day this Saturday September 26, 2026. Meeting at 1:30pm in Kenai, family/parent must attend with camper, all family members are welcome. This event is sponsored through a grant from the Kenai Peninsula Foundation, an affiliate of the Alaska Community Foundation.
Must RSVP by Friday 9/25/26.

Meetings begin October 14 for 8 weeks every Wednesday from 1:30pm-3pm.

We do need folks to register, if you are interested please give us a call and get your name on the roster by Friday October 9.

HELP!

The loan closet has been without any LARGE disposable underwear for almost two weeks. We're turning folks away way too often looking for that particular size.

If y'all have any to spare (unopening packages only) we'd be happy to take them off your hands. We promise they will go quickly out into the community! They won't linger waiting for a home.

Don't forget we have a loan closet you can always take a look at and order from if you're willing and able. Thank you!

This was amazing! 2026 was by far our largest run to date! Thank you SO MUCH to our community! We hope you all had a wonderful time and we will see you runners again next year! ❤️
