WE ALL START SOMEWHERE!by.kass
🔸On the left was 5 years ago when I was in Cosmo school. I remember what this client asked for, she wanted a "blonde balayage," showed me a picture, no further questions asked, and these were the results. All the education I had was watching a few YouTube videos by 🩷
🔸On the right was a few weeks ago. She was my model for practicing a new sectioning technique. We had a detailed consultation on what she liked about her hair, what she wanted her end results to look like, what products she used, what her ideal salon maintenance looked like to her, what she DIDN'T want for her color, etc. From 2018-now I've gone through two apprenticeships, invested in lots of education through online and in person classes, practiced A LOT, but this look was achieved through and .weeden
If you're a newer stylist or a student in cosmetology school, my biggest words of advice and encouragement I could give you, is we all start somewhere (and our starting points are NEVER perfect.) It's ok to make mistakes, refining your craft is a marathon, not a sprint. The important things are to learn from your mistakes and you get out what you put into this industry. Invest in your education, work on doll heads and models to practice what you learned!
