I wish more clinicians had this.

A place where you don’t have to arrive with the answer.

Where you can bring the case that doesn’t quite make sense yet.

Where someone can challenge your thinking, offer another perspective, point you toward something you hadn’t considered, or simply help you stay with the question a little longer.

We spend so much of our professional lives sitting one-on-one with clients.

We shouldn’t have to do all of our clinical thinking alone, too.

That’s often where sense of community is a big part of why I created Beyond the Protocol.

Whether you're working toward EMDRIA certification or simply want to deepen your skills, consultation can expand your confidence and amplify the transformational power of this therapy. As a certified EMDR therapist and EMDRIA-approved consultant, I offer individual and group consultation for profess...

Maybe you want to become EMDR certified.

Maybe you’re already experienced and want a place to keep sharpening your skills.

Maybe you miss having colleagues to talk through cases with.

Or maybe you want to stay connected to what’s happening in EMDR research without adding another thing to your already very long reading list.

That’s who I built Beyond the Protocol for.

There’s an ongoing learning community through Beyond the Protocol Essentials and, starting soon, a small 10-month Certification Pathway for clinicians pursuing EMDRIA certification.

Different goals. One place to keep growing.

One of the questions I’ve been thinking about a lot lately is:

What happens after EMDR training?

Because is my experience, that’s where some of the most meaningful professional growth begins.

It’s why I created The EMDR Collective. A place for clinicians to stay connected, continue asking thoughtful questions, and grow alongside one another.

But over the past several months, I’ve also been quietly building something new.

Something designed for clinicians who want ongoing education, deeper consultation, and a clear pathway for continued professional growth.

I’m excited to finally start sharing more with you in September.

I have a feeling it’s going to become one of my favorite things I’ve ever created.

Certification is an incredible accomplishment.

But it isn’t the finish line.

Every new season of practice brings new questions, new challenges, and new opportunities to grow.

The therapists I admire the most have one thing in common:

✨They’ve never stopped learning.✨

They continue seeking consultation, exploring ideas with colleagues, and remaining curious about their work.

Because clinical excellence isn’t a destination.

It’s an ongoing practice.

“I just need another intervention.”

It’s an easy assumption to make.

But more interventions aren’t always the answer.

Sometimes what’s needed isn’t another technique.

It’s another perspective.

A thoughtful conversation can often reveal something we couldn’t see on our own.

That’s one of the many reasons consultation remains such an important part of clinical growth.

Sometimes one conversation can change the way you see a case.

Come have coffee with us sometime. You never know what one conversation might unlock.

When most therapists think about consultation, they think about the cases that feel difficult.

The ones that leave us wondering what to do next.

Those cases absolutely deserve thoughtful discussion.

But so do the cases that are going well.

When we slow down and ask why a client is making progress, we deepen our clinical reasoning.

We begin to recognize patterns.

We notice what supported change.

We become more intentional in future cases.

Sometimes our greatest learning doesn't come from the moments we struggle.

Sometimes it comes from understanding what we did well.

If you've been wondering what to bring to The EMDR Collective: Coffee, Consultation & Connection, don't wait until you have a "stuck" case.

Bring the case that's teaching you something.

Sometimes those conversations become the most valuable of all.

One of the biggest myths in our profession is that consultation is something you eventually outgrow.

I’ve found the opposite to be true.

The more experience we gain, the more nuanced our questions become.

We spend less time asking, “What’s the next intervention?”

And more time asking,
“What am I understanding?”

“What am I missing?”

“What is this client’s nervous system communicating?”

Those questions don’t reflect uncertainty.

They reflect a deeper level of clinical thinking.

In my experience, growth isn’t about having fewer questions.

It’s about learning to ask better ones.

“The best therapists don’t need support.”

It’s a belief many clinicians quietly carry. I don’t believe it’s true.

The therapists I admire most continue seeking consultation throughout their careers. Not because they have fewer skills, but because they’re committed to deepening them.

Clinical excellence isn’t built in isolation.

It’s cultivated through curiosity, reflection, and a willingness to keep learning.

This is just the first assumption. I’ll be sharing more in this series soon.

08/04/2026

Some of the most meaningful growth in my career happened after my EMDR training was complete.

Not because I attended another certification.

Because I continued having conversations with thoughtful clinicians.

Those conversations shaped the way I conceptualize cases, think through complexity, and continue developing as a therapist.

That's why I created The EMDR Collective: Coffee, Consultation & Connection.

A place where clinicians can continue learning through thoughtful dialogue, consultation, and community.

If you're looking for a space to strengthen your clinical thinking while connecting with other EMDR clinicians, I'd love to have you join us.
