WELLNESS WEDNESDAY

A little reminder for the one who is already tired this week…

You don’t have to do it all today.

You don’t have to be everything to everyone.

And taking care of yourself isn’t something you have to earn.

Sometimes wellness looks like:

✨ Drinking enough water
✨ Eating a meal instead of just coffee
✨ Getting outside for a few minutes
✨ Going to bed a little earlier
✨ Saying “no” without feeling guilty
✨ Taking a few deep breaths
✨ Asking for help when you need it
✨ Giving yourself permission to rest

We spend so much time talking about what we need to add to our wellness routine…

Maybe today, wellness is about taking something off your plate. ❤️

Your body doesn’t need perfection.

It needs consistency, nourishment, rest, and grace.

Wellness isn’t just how you care for your BODY.

It’s how you care for YOU.

Be blessed & Be well 🌿

A New Resource for Our Community 💚

One thing we’ve recognized over the years at Sour Lake Health & Medical is a very real gap in mental health services in our area.

For many people, finding a counselor can mean traveling outside of our community, waiting weeks or even months for an appointment, navigating limited availability, and sometimes facing costs that make consistent counseling difficult to access.

And we believe mental health is health. It deserves the same accessibility, attention, and compassion that we strive to provide for every other aspect of your well-being.

That’s why we couldn’t be more excited to welcome Kellie Rogers, LPC, and Hope Services Mental Wellness & Life Coaching, to the Sour Lake Health & Medical family. 🤍

Kellie’s mission aligns beautifully with ours: helping people feel seen, heard, supported, and empowered to move forward.

Through counseling and life coaching, Kellie offers support for individual growth, relationships, emotional wellness, healing and resilience, and navigating life’s challenges in a safe, compassionate, nonjudgmental environment.

We know that adding this resource to our community will help bridge an important gap—and we believe Kellie will quickly become a valuable asset not only to our patients, but to the entire Sour Lake community and surrounding areas.

We are so grateful to have her joining us and look forward to the difference she will make. 💚

Please join us in welcoming Kellie to the Sour Lake Health & Medical family!

Well… our air conditioner decided it wasn’t ready to come back from vacation. 🫠

Unfortunately, the AC was out when we opened the clinic this morning. We sincerely apologize in advance to anyone who is on our schedule today! We have already requested urgent assistance from our landlord and are working to get the issue resolved as quickly as possible.

In the meantime, if you are scheduled with us today and would prefer to reschedule your appointment for a day when the climate is a little more favorable, we completely understand! 😅

We appreciate your patience and grace as we work through this unexpected hiccup. We’ll keep everyone updated as we know more.

Apparently, even the clinic needed one more day off after the holiday weekend. 😂🥵

Thank you for understanding! ❤️

Meet the newest member of our SLH&M team, Ms. Briana LaStrape.

Bri has been training with Peyton to step into the medical assistant role and has already proven to be a great fit!

We can’t wait for everyone to meet her. Until then, get to know her as you read her bio:

“Hi, I 'm absolutely delighted to have recently become a part of the team! I've been immersed in the world of medical assisting since 2019, and it's truly a field I've come to adore.

There's something incredibly fulfilling about the work that really resonates with me.

Outside of my professional life, I channel my creativity into my small business, Bri’s Baking Co. It’s where I get to whip up all sorts of delicious homemade goodies – it's definitely my happy place!

And, when I'm not busy with work or baking, you can find me hanging out with my main man, Maverick. He’s my 4 year old Yorkie, and without a doubt, my favorite little companion“.

Mediterranean Power bowl for lunch! 🥰😋

Grilled chicken breast, cucumber, tomato, purple onion, avocado, black olives, steamed jasmine rice, tzatziki sauce, fresh basil, Greek spices and crisped golden fingerling potatoes.

I wouldn’t have thought of combining these ingredients but, I am so glad I tried it! I will be adding this to my meal rotation.

A great reminder to try new things… even if they sound a bit weird or out of your comfort zone. You may be pleasantly surprised!

I’ve shared my concerns before about “gray-market” peptides — primarily from a health and safety perspective.

But a recent Chainalysis investigation adds another layer that I think every consumer should consider:

Where is your money going?

Chainalysis recently reported that the gray-market peptide economy has surpassed a $100 million annual run rate in cryptocurrency transactions. More concerning, blockchain analysis identified connections between some of the Chinese chemical manufacturers supplying this market and companies previously involved in supplying fentanyl and other illicit drug precursors to criminal networks. In at least some cases, manufacturers appear to have pivoted from drug precursors to the booming peptide market.

That should make all of us stop and think.

When you purchase an unregulated peptide because it’s cheaper, easier to obtain, or doesn’t require a prescription, do you know who you’re actually supporting?

And perhaps even more importantly:

Do you know what you’re putting into your body?

Chainalysis also found that independent safety testing has declined dramatically as the gray-market peptide market has exploded. A certificate showing purity doesn’t necessarily mean a product is sterile, accurately dosed, or safe to inject.

So this isn’t simply a conversation about whether someone is willing to take a risk with a peptide.

It’s a conversation about health, accountability, and the supply chain behind the product.

Are we willing to say, “I don’t care who makes it, where it comes from, how it was manufactured, or where my money ultimately goes — I just want what I want”?

Or are we going to be responsible healthcare consumers who ask questions before putting something into our bodies?

I believe we should care about both.

Cheap doesn’t always mean inexpensive.

Sometimes the real cost is one we don’t see until it’s too late.

Just because something can be purchased doesn’t mean it’s safe. And just because someone on social media says it’s “pharmaceutical grade” doesn’t make it so.

Know your source. Know your product. Know what you’re putting into your body. Know who/ what your dollars are funding.

This is what informed {consent} decision making looks like.

Be blessed & Be well,

— Lacey Guedry

Yesterday was a little crazy and hectic around the clinic, but in the midst of the busyness, I didn’t want to let the day pass without acknowledging just how bittersweet it was.

Yesterday was Peyton’s last day with us at Sour Lake Health & Medical, just shy of her two-year anniversary with our clinic.

Peyton is spreading her wings. 🦋

As a mom, I’ve always encouraged my girls to do hard things—to challenge themselves, keep growing, learn something new, seek out new opportunities, and most importantly, find what fuels their passions. I realized somewhere along the way that I feel the same way about the people on my team.

I encourage my team to never get too comfortable with where they are. Keep learning. Keep growing. Stretch yourself in an area where you’ve gotten comfortable. Explore new skills, new knowledge, and new challenges. Sometimes the next chapter requires us to step outside of what we already know.

And just like it hurts a mama’s heart when her babies leave the nest, there’s a very similar heartache when a member of your clinic family moves on.

But there is also SO much excitement.

Peyton has made a tremendous impact over the past two years. She is the definition of dependable, loyal, hardworking, and a true team player. She has always shown up, stepped in, and done whatever was needed for whoever needed it.

She will be missed tremendously—not only by me and every member of our team, but by so many of our patients who have come to know and love her.

Peyton, we are so proud of you. ❤️

Go do great things. Keep learning. Keep growing. Keep chasing the things that fuel your passion.

We’re all cheering you on as you begin this next adventure!

And if you feel led, drop Peyton a little word of encouragement below. I know it would mean so much to her. 🥰
