We Support Mothers and Babies in Breastfeeding! ๐
Welcome to World Breastfeeding Week, observed August 1โ7 and first celebrated in 1992.
The Office of the Surgeon General has long recognized breastfeeding as a public health priority. Breastfeeding offers important health benefits for both babies and mothers and can bring moments of closeness and joy. But it also asks a great deal of mothers. Knowledgeable care, protected time, workplace flexibility, and support at home can reduce those demands.
This week, as we celebrate breastfeeding, we will highlight its health benefits, acknowledge the effort it requires from mothers, and call attention to the support we owe them.
