Starbucks engineered this drink to go viral. Here's what they didn't tell you.

Years ago we campaigned to get Caramel Color removed from Starbucks drinks because it contained a substance strongly linked to cancer. And they did remove it – that was a real win.

But they still sneak other controversial ingredients into their trendy drinks.

The Butterfly Drink contains carrageenan and potassium sorbate – a preservative linked to cancer – which appears not once but TWICE in this drink alone.

Every summer Starbucks drops a viral drink and the media covers it like it's the greatest thing ever. Nobody talks about what's actually in it.
