A study published this month in Maturitas tracked 4,000+ postmenopausal women and found that inconsistent eating nearly doubled the risk of serious heart issues.
Inflammation was the link. The same inflammation already rising as estrogen drops.

Perimenopause is the set up phase for women…with the decline of hormones, we see so many changes happening but not many women know about how sleep impacts brain health.

We all know that sleep is important but we also know how hard it is at this age when we are battling the drop in the hormones responsible for us sleeping.

This post is to give you insight into the not well known system that helps to keeps our brains “clean” and to reduce the toxic load.

Perimenopause and sleep issues are a serious issue issue for so many of us during this transitional stage of life. I just recently read an article in menopause from the menopause society showing a study that was just done using CBT therapy which is cognitive behavioural therapy for insomnia for women during Perimenopause. I also found an app that recreated the study that you could use for free if your health insurance covers it. It definitely takes work on your part to make it happen but if sleep is that important to you, which it should be, this is a way to do it naturally.

I’ve been in healthcare for 29 years. I am a menopause educator. I know my sh*t when it comes to my health but sometimes I can just have a full on Biohacking temper tantrum.
I know alcohol is a sleep killer but had some anyway. My shamed me this morning with my sleep score.
My glucose monitor might as well have flogged me.

Three quarters of frozen shoulder patients are women. Most of them between 40 and 60.

If that number surprises you, it shouldn’t. Estrogen directly maintains the integrity of connective tissue throughout the body including the joint capsule surrounding the shoulder.

As it declines in perimenopause, tissue fibroses.

Standard physical therapy addresses the mechanical problem. It rarely addresses the hormonal one underneath it.

After 29 years combining acupuncture, TCM, and physical therapy, I’ve developed a specific protocol that targets both specific meridian points governing the shoulder in Eastern medicine, followed by trigger point dry needling into the subscapularis, the muscle most responsible for the capsular restriction in frozen shoulder.

The outcome in a single session is typically 30 to 40 degrees of additional range of motion.

If you or someone you know has been doing PT for months without results, the diagnosis may be incomplete.

Save this. It’s the post I wish existed when my patients first walked in my door.

Most women try creatine for a month, feel nothing, and quit.

There’s a clinical reason for that and almost nobody is talking about it.

The research shows that low-dose creatine without a loading phase first produces no significant strength gains in older adults versus placebo.

None.

Which means the standard advice most women are following just take 5 grams a day is leaving results on the table.

What actually works: a loading phase of 20 grams daily split into four doses for five to seven days, then dropping to 5 grams for maintenance. Combined with resistance training.

That combination is what the evidence supports.

I got this wrong.

A functional nutrition practitioner with 29 years of clinical experience.

Now I’m correcting it publicly, with the actual study behind me.

Save this if you’ve tried creatine and felt nothing.

The problem probably wasn’t the supplement.

Being a content creator for the past 6 years, it’s been a wild ride moving into the space of UGC. I work with clean brands, medical spokesperson campaigns, health and wellness products of which I seem to fall in love with all of them. From creator to consumer all from creating content.

The thing I’m most blown away by is as a 53 year old woman, I’m doing tons of beauty and skincare products. Again, I’ve found brands that arent mainstream or having massive ad spend that I would now buy personally. What I love most is that these brands who are targeting the over 50 female are actually using over 50 female in their marketing ads! Not a 20 something without crepiness or wrinkles.

Anyhoo, I’m closing in on month 11 of working with brands on filming, editing, scripting and now creative strategy and over 200 + campaigns completed…

Yes, I’m still a clinician and love being a practitioner but I am sure having fun in the content creation space.
