I’m so excited to share that I’m part of the brand-new Hormone Freedom Podcast with Amanda Hinman and Helen Birney! 🎙️

In my conversation with Amanda and Helen, we talked about why what worked for you at 30 may not work the same way after 40.

So many women find themselves thinking they need to be stricter, do more, or completely overhaul their health when something stops working. But sometimes the answer is about coming back to the foundations: nutrition, movement, sleep, stress, and finding a sustainable balance.

We also talked about the all-or-nothing mindset and how creating realistic, sustainable habits can be so much more powerful than constantly starting over.

I’m honored to be part of this special 10-episode launch, and I’d love for you to listen!

I read these once, and apparently they’ve been living rent-free in our heads ever since…

“A moment on the lips, forever on the hips.”

“Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels.”

Count your points. Choose the frozen dinner. Skip dessert. Be “good.”

If you’re a woman over 40, there’s a good chance you didn’t just hear these messages.

You built your entire definition of weight loss around them.

Eat less.

Exercise more.

Ignore hunger.

Make the portion smaller.

And if the scale isn’t moving?

Eat even less.

For a while, it may have worked.

Then somewhere in your 40s, the rules seemed to change.

You’re eating less than you did 10 years ago.

Working out harder.

Trying to be “good.”

And somehow your jeans are tighter, your midsection feels different, you’re exhausted, bloated, sleeping like garbage…

…and the scale can seemingly jump overnight.

So naturally, you assume you need to try harder.

But here’s the part I wish more women were told:

Your body changed. The strategy didn’t.

Perimenopause and menopause bring physiological changes that can affect your body composition, appetite, sleep, energy, recovery and where you tend to store fat.

Yet so many women are trying to navigate those changes with weight-loss rules they learned from 90s diet culture.

And then blaming themselves when those rules stop producing the same result.

That’s the a-ha:

Losing fat and feeling good after 40 doesn’t have to mean getting stricter. It means understanding the body you have NOW.

Once you stop fighting your physiology and start working with it, the whole conversation changes.

Food becomes something you can use to support your body instead of something you constantly have to restrict.

Exercise becomes about building and protecting muscle, not burning off what you ate.

And the goal stops being:

“How little can I eat and still function?”

And becomes:

“How well can I fuel this body so it can actually thrive?” Follow Tara Roscioli, FDNP Perimenopausal Nutrition + Weight Loss Coach to change your body and change your life.

Here is what a woman in my last cohort just said about working with me:

“I honestly didn’t think I could lose weight post-menopause, especially with joint issues limiting exercise and a medication known to cause weight gain. In 12 weeks with Tara, I lost 16 pounds (I’d only hoped for 10!) and both my cholesterol and LDL dropped significantly. No maniacal tracking, no protein overload, no diet trends that never worked for me. Just real meals I loved, easy tips for eating out, and expert support whenever I got stuck. I’m about to turn 60 feeling like the real me, finally. Best birthday gift ever.”

If you are perimenopausal or menopausal, done with feeling hopeless and depressed over midlife weight gain. and you’re ready to step into this next season feeling and looking your absolute best, comment “SUPPORT” and let’s talk about where to start.

Perimenopausal and menopausal women, stop skipping meals in an effort to lose weight.

It doesn’t work in midlife, and it will cost you!

If I had a dollar for every women who comes
to see me and asks if they should skip breakfast, or just work through lunch or maybe cut down to one meal a day…l

Her is where “forgetting” to eat breakfast or “working through lunch” will get you:

A massive blood sugar crash, mood swings, irritability and fatigue ➡️

Leading to a cortisol spike (your brain sees a drop in blood sugar as danger and will raise cortisol to protect you) ➡️

A body with frequent cortisol spikes will not burn fat…that’s the last thing it wants to do. Its’s going to store that fat on your body to keep you safe ➡️

So you keep cutting back more and more and wonder why your clothes are tight and the scale isn’t budging ➡️

Finally, all of those skipped meals lead you to 6 pm, standing in front of an open refrigerator shoveling in anything you can get your hands on. How do I know this? I did this FOR YEARS as a practicing attorney. But I could get away with it in my 20s, I can’t get away with it now when my hormones are already in flux.

Stop skipping meals! Stop cutting more and more calories. If you truly can’t remember to eat during the day, set an alarm. As ridiculous as that sounds, it happens. Set the alarm, nourish your body and I PROMISE you that your body will respond in kind.

If you’re ready to stop the vicious cycle, comment READY and I’ll pop into your DMs with some info.

Mark didn’t need more motivation. He really just needed to change his approach-an approach that kept him stuck in a place where he didn’t feel energized or fit.

He needed someone to understand the demands of his career, the social obligations that came along with it and the time constraints of being a CEO, a husband and a dad. He needed someone who could meet him where he was a customize a program that would work for him.

So here we are 90 days later- Mark has lost 10% of his body weight, is now wearing pants that haven’t fit in years, and his wife is relieved that he has stopped snoring. That’s a huge win for the whole family.

If you are a man or a woman feeling stuck in old ways and struggling to lose weight, I’d love to connect with you. Building relationships with incredible clients like Mark and helping them get their body, their energy and their mojo back? Well, that’s my why!! I’m proud of you, Mark!

If you feel bloated, overweight, exhausted and a bit stuck, DM me and we can talk. I love what I do, and it is always my privilege to support others. ❤️

Many thanks to for sharing my thoughts on the use of GLP-1s and how they can play a role in healthy weight loss once the foundations of sound nutrition, strength training, quality sleep and stress reduction have been established.

GLP-1s can be a useful TOOL, but they should not be prioritized above the fundamentals.

When asked to comment on whether Michelle Obama was using diet drugs, my response was that IF she is, she does appear to have the basics dialed in. I have seen firsthand that weight loss in midlife is absolutely attainable and sustainable without the use of diet drugs.
