1. After all these years still find it fascinating how the roots of the primary molars resorb and are left with nothing but a shell of the tooth

Ask any orthodontist and I think everyone would agree that it is much easier and faster to treatment patients in a Class I platform as compared to a Class II or a Class III relationship.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Utilized the CMA prior to fixed orthodontic appliances or clear aligners allows the treatment time to be significantly reduced and results to be significantly improved.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Remember orthodontic treatment is first and foremost aimed at providing a functional occlusion and esthetics is a by product of that, a very desirable bonus 🤩
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I think it’s important to expose people to different modalities of treatment as we are no longer limited by braces and clear aligners alone but can offer a gamete of different treatment modalities that can get us to the finish line with better and faster results!

Braces won with a narrow margin (53%) BUT this case was actually treated with INVISALIGN (47%)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I always get the question what is better braces or clear aligners? Clearly you can see great results can be achieved with clear aligners, they can also be achieved with braces, I think it’s a personal question of what fits better with your lifestyle during treatment.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
To me the biggest and most important factor in orthodontic treatment is patient compliance. I must sound like a broken record by now but to me compliance is the single most important factor in achieving great results with both braces and clear aligners!

WHAT IS THE NUMBER ONE CHALLENGE YOU ARE EXPERIENCING SINCE RETURNING TO WORK?

The new protocols have been hard, the extra PPE has been uncomfortable, procedures take a little longer, trying to social distance patients has been a strain on the schedule but nothing has compared to the challenge of COMMUNICATION.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I am so used to being expressive while communicating with new and current patients and it has been a huge learning curve to be able to try to convey all the necessary information along with my excitement and enthusiasm while wearing 2 face masks and a face shield at times.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
How is everyone handling day to day patient communication but more importantly new patient communications to relay to them the importance of their treatment, the goals of the treatment, and the enthusiasm with which you are going to approach their treatment?!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
No more smiling faces to greet patients to make them feel comfortable but hopefully everyone takes comfort that we are all smiling under our masks 😁
