🌟 **Volunteer Spotlight: Ellen** 🌟

Today, we are so grateful to spotlight Ellen, one of our wonderful Stable Friendships Foundation volunteers.

For Ellen, the joy of volunteering comes from working with incredible children, amazing staff, and our sweetest ponies — while realizing there is always more to learn from all of them.

One of the things we admire most about Ellen is her dedication to truly understanding how each of our ponies communicates. For us, that is a dream come true. Many people love the idea of listening to the horse, but Ellen brings the patience, curiosity, and care needed to put that ideal into practice.

Through volunteering, Ellen says she has learned that it is all about trust, cooperation, caring, respect, and love — for both equine and human partners.

As Ellen shared:

“Stable Friendships is a nurturing, caring, teaching place where miracles do happen, one small step at a time.”

Thank you, Ellen, for bringing your heart, presence, and kindness to our barn family. We are so lucky to have you. ❤️🐴

🌱 Dirt. Kittens. Smiles. That was our week.

We planted our first garden, met some new barn babies, and watched nature do what it always does — pull people in and not let go.

Turns out the best therapy room doesn’t have a roof.

There is a quiet kind of responsibility that comes with asking horses to partner with us in therapeutic work.

They offer their bodies, their attention, their sensitivity, and their presence. And because they give so much, we believe their care has to be more than routine maintenance. It has to include listening carefully, noticing small changes, and responding before discomfort becomes something louder.

That is the heart behind The Stable Standard Equine Welfare Fund.

This fundraiser is about building a deeper standard of care for Ozzy, Sunny, and the horses who make this work possible — one that honors them not as equipment, but as living partners with needs, preferences, and limits of their own.

If you have been touched by the work of Stable Friendships Foundation, or if you believe the horses in this work deserve thoughtful, proactive care, we would be grateful for your support.

Help us care for the horses who care with us.

When one of our kiddos shows up to the barn in full gear, you don’t let that moment pass.

What does it take to be a GOAT?
- Bravery ✔️
- Determination ✔️
- Heart ✔️
- Trust✔️

And Ozzy gave the final approval ✔️. He is also requesting a GOAT saddle pad 😉

🎉Let’s Show This Kiddo Some Love 🎉

These Videos were taken during Hippotherapy sessions. These are physical, occupational or speech therapy sessions fueled by equine movement... and lots of excitement.

It’s such a blessing to witness these moment.

It should also be noted that we incorporated NMES, neuromuscular electric stimulation to some of his big muscle groups, this enhances the ability of the muscles to fire when needed.

This is a repost from march of 2024……stay tuned to see what this rockstar is up to now!!

There is something different about watching a child step outside.

Sometimes the body softens. Sometimes the eyes lift. Sometimes a child begins to notice, name, move, ask, or reach for connection in a new way.

These moments may look simple, but development often happens inside simple moments.

Research suggests that natural outdoor spaces may support attention, communication, social interaction, and emotional well-being. For children with ADHD, green outdoor settings have been linked with milder symptoms and improved concentration. Outdoor spaces may also create rich opportunities for shared attention and responsive communication.

Nature is not a replacement for skilled therapy. But it can be a powerful adjunct with skilled therapeutics support — it becomes a place where the nervous system has more room to organize, explore, and connect.

Therapy does not always look like therapy.

Sometimes it looks like brushing a horse, taking a deep breath, and realizing that your body can feel a little more settled than it did a moment ago.

At Stable Friendships Foundation, we pay attention to these small shifts — the softer breath, the steadier posture, the growing confidence, the feeling of being comfortable beside a horse.

These quiet moments are part of the work. They are also part of the joy.

Sometimes this is the work.

We were deeply honored to partner with to help bring Madeleine’s vision to life.

Her wish was to have her Quinceañera photos taken with horses — and to experience the magic of being with them in such a meaningful moment.

Dressed in her beautiful gown, Madeleine spent time connecting, celebrating, and creating memories that will last a lifetime.

It was one of those days that reminded us why this work matters — not just for the milestones, but for the feeling of being seen, supported, and surrounded by something bigger.

“Truly grateful. You brought Madeleine’s vision to life, creating a day that will shine through any difficulties. I love that she wants to stay connected and volunteer. It speaks volumes about your experience. What a special team and community you have.”

We are so grateful to welcome Molly to the Stable Friendships Foundation community.

Molly brings a beautiful balance of intentional, evidence-based practice and a deep appreciation for the natural joy of childhood. With a background as a research associate at the Burke Neurological Institute, she understands firsthand how research shapes effective intervention — and yet her sessions often look simply like play.

For Molly, the farm is a place where the pieces fall seamlessly into place. When asked about her first impression of the farm, she described it in one word: ease.

We are fortunate to have her nurturing presence, her scientific mind, and her belief in the magic of connection here at the farm. 🌿

Drop a 🐴 in the comments to welcome Molly!
