Chair stands or box squats are a great exercise for seniors to strengthen quads, and help with cardiovascular health.
Younger people may laugh at exercises like this.
But it depends on who it is programmed for!!!
My best chair stand was with 125lbs in each hand for 15 reps
Moral of the story is that I teach level one- advanced, and have a series of calisthenics or exercises you can do at home with little to no equipment.
We see so much crazy fitness stuff online and think I'll try that.
Most end up injured unless you are trained for injury prevention and resilience!

Movement is medicine especially when it is a specific prescription for your individual needs.
The last decade has been assigning corrective exercises for people to help reduce pain, improve posture, and improve balance/ stability.
Remember the gym isn't just for big muscles and hard bodies.
It is a place where we go to work on weak points or to just feel better.
Just keep moving!

Principle of specificity of training means that the way the body responds to physical activity is very specific to the activity itself.
As a lifestyle coach I train people for life with addressing everything from grip strength, neck training, and even rebuilding arches in the feet.
Our ultimate goal is to #1. Improve performance and #2. Decrease the risk of injury!
From doing powerlifting, bodybuilding, and strongman competitions to showing ways to improve performance with just moving our bodies appropriately.
I was never a natural athlete or a genetic freak I just keep showing up everyday for myself.
Whatever your goal is in life you can do things to train and compliment that activity so you can enjoy it for life.
Health, wellness, longevity, energy, and vitality is what TLC focuses on.
Dr. Steven Rockoff demonstrates carrying 120lbs a hand after rehabbing/ healing a knee, and previous injuries.
