You asked for candle holders. We understood the assignment.

But obviously, we couldn't just carry normal ones.

Antique + vintage candle chargers have arrived in sterling plate, pewter, copper, and cast iron: and depending on what you're working, the metal beneath your candle can be part of the spell.

Copper has an old reputation for conducting more than electricity. Historically tied to Venus, it makes a particularly interesting foundation for workings around attraction, beauty, pleasure, love, and abundance.

Iron is an entirely different beast. Protective, grounding, and historically used to repel troublesome spirits and harmful influences. Cast iron makes a VERY satisfying base for protection, uncrossing, boundary, and banishing work.

Silver belongs to the Moon. Think intuition, dreams, psychic work, divination, reflection, lunar magic, and anything that benefits from turning your attention toward what isn't immediately visible.

And then there's pewter: the weird one. Historically, pewter wasn't one single metal but an alloy whose composition changed enormously across time and place. Which makes an old pewter charger particularly fun for the witch who likes objects that refuse to fit neatly into one correspondence chart.

And because these are antique and vintage pieces, they've already had lives before they got here.

We don't know every table they sat upon, every item they held, every dinner they witnessed, or every pair of hands that polished them.

There's a special kind of mystery and wisdom a piece gains with the space and energy of time.

I’m not the kind of shop owner who goes about her day fretting about shoplifting.

I choose to believe that the people who walk through our doors are amazing, honest, good-hearted people. And overwhelmingly, that belief has been rewarded.

But every once in a while, a shop favorite goes missing.

And somehow, before we even know exactly what’s happened, the energetic loss makes itself known.

Yesterday, that missing piece was a black tourmaline sphere.

While she’s been waiting for her person, that sphere has become a little bit of an emotional support crystal for the shop.

Some people absentmindedly run their hand over her as they walk by. Others have stood there holding her while we remind them to take a deep breath, relax their shoulders, and let go of whatever they’ve been carrying that doesn’t need to come with them.

She’s helped a lot of people release some stuck energy over the years.

So when she disappeared, it wasn’t just that a piece of merchandise was missing. Something that had become part of the rhythm of the shop was gone.

Luckily, the Yarmouth Police Department was able to retrieve our crystal safe and sound.

Many thanks to both officers for their fast work, professionalism, and kindness throughout the process.

It was a beautiful reminder that sometimes the system works, and small businesses do not have to accept theft as simply “the cost of doing business.”

We’re incredibly grateful to have our tourmaline friend back where she belongs. After a thorough cleansing and re-consecration, she’ll be ready to get back to work and, eventually, find her forever home. 😂

In the meantime, we’ve chosen forgiveness and requested that no charges be pursued. We hope this serves as an opportunity for reflection and a fresh start.
