When my son Troy was born, I was happy to stop working to support my ever changing military family. This however separated me from an identity and gave me a new one, mom. Through CrossFit, I stayed in regular exercise classes and in touch with other adults, but I still felt with a disconnect from my community. What is my next purpose after the hard mother years are behind me? Unfortunately, I'm af
raid that I have caused some long term damage to my mother of two body by doing too much in the gym. I continued to strain my core through abdominal flexion too long into my pregnancies. I began those same abdominal flexion exercised too soon after bearing children. I didn't know, I was uneducated. In August I attended a BIRTHFIT Coach's Course; I'm a changed woman! Through their outstanding research and programming, I now have a backbone for my next phase in life- to educate women in my community on motherhood fitness. This concept of being "fit" for motherhood is broader than just exercises in the gym. It's about your headspace, your nutrition, and your total body awareness. This next chapter in my life is encompassed here in this page. I'll blog and share my journey through post part fitness and body healing as well as post articles and reviews that I think would help any mother, especially those local to the Southern Pines area. So please, join in my conversations and let me know what you think! I want to hear your stories too.
