One month post partum

I am feeling slightly more adjusted to being a family of 6. However having all kids home while recovering was not my best planning. Being torn in all directions is the norm now, these kids are learning to be patient for mama.

Besa is still doing all the newborn things: sleep, eat, p**p, peep one eye ball, repeat. Wake times are super short and I am choosing to prioritize bonding over any structure for now.

One difference i feel with her being my 4th, is that I am not pressuring any tummy time or other skills. She gets plenty of elevated tummy time while cuddling on my chest. We will have more opportunities for floor time later.

She’s been living in my baby wraps, it is really the only way I can comfort her while getting things done around the home. We do not use any other “containers” because she wont let me be away from her yet. And her most likely being my last baby, I am happy with us being inseparable.

I will be incorporating play into her routine slowly as my body heals and as her wake windows extend next month!

3 years ago, taking care of a teeny tiny preemie was our norm. Something we just quickly adjusted to. Bringing a growth restricted, 34 week baby home from the NICU at 3 lbs 9 oz seemed crazy. Because she was healthy, eating and breathing on her own, she was discharged quickly! We couldn’t believe that we were allowed to just walk out of the hospital with a baby who floated in preemie diapers. We used doll clothes the first few weeks because preemie clothing was too big. We were terrified of how weak and fragile this baby seemed.

Now, this toddler is thriving and no one would have a clue she was a preemie. But bringing her full term sister home recently allowed us to truly appreciate how hard it once was caring for a preemie.

Sending ❤️ to all my preemie mom friends!

One week post partum

How has it already been a week with my newest peanut???

Currently life revolves around pain meds, breastfeeding, and diaper changes (for both of us 😂).

Breastfeeding has been amazing so far and I am realizing how much this depends on the BABY. My previous kiddo was a preemie and had no endurance for staying latched. No matter how hard I tried, BF journey was not for her. This time, no effort is required on my part. Bessie found the boobie, latched, and successfully ate a full meal from the first day. When both my arms had IVs and I couldn’t even help position her, she figured it out herself!!!

Today, at day 8, I left the house for the first time! First BP check to monitor pre eclampsia. That sucker loves to sneak up on me and try to take me out. So far, I am in the clear!

I’m feeling rich with all the excess milk I am producing but also hoping it doesn’t lead to huge overproduction and mastitis. Too much or too little are both not fun problems.

Cuddles on top of cuddles as we get used to being a family of 6. It is busy. It is loud. At times, its overwhelming and I feel very outnumbered.

Reminding myself to stop and breathe. I dreamt of having a big family and this hot mess express is the reality of what a big family looks like.

I’m exactly where I am meant to be.

4x🐣 mom discovering something new!

I packed my ring sling, really not expecting to use it. It quickly became my most necessary item. After a C section, any movement is extremely painful. Pair that with multiple IV sites in my arms due to pre eclampsia, made it very difficult to cuddle and feed my baby.

Ring sling allowed me to keep my baby close and be hands free. Don’t sleep on this hack, bring a sling with you to the hospital!

We’ve been keeping a tiny secret….

Baby #4 is here!

Baby girl joined us on Tuesday and we have been smitten with her. She is doing great and keeping the whole family busy!

I made it to 36 weeks this time without any complications when Pre Eclampsia decided to come after me out of nowhere. This time my OB team was ready and we didn’t take any chances for it to progress.

We are now home and adjusting to life as a family of SIX. It’s loud, chaotic, and absolutely perfect.

Stay tuned for the name announcement or take a guess below 👇

Starting solids around 6 months can feel like a whole new world (and yes… a messy one 😅).

One thing that makes it so much easier? Having a tool that does it all.

I’ve been using the all-in-one baby food maker because it steams and blends in one, lets you adjust textures, and actually grows with your baby beyond just purées 🍓🥭.

Lately, my favorite way to use it has been making these healthy, kid-friendly fruit roll-ups.

If you want a simpler way to prep fresh foods at home, this is your sign to get one too. Use code DRVERAPT for 15% off! 🤍

Hot take 🔥 from a pediatric PT: Some baby seats are designed more for convenience than for your baby’s development.

has been one of my go-to recommendations for years because of how it supports alignment ✔️, posture ✔️, and hip positioning ✔️.

When I heard they were launching the new Upseat Core exclusively at , I was really excited.

It has the same thoughtful design and PT-backed support as the original Upseat, but at a more affordable price, making it more accessible for families.
