This illusion is wild because the red dots are actually moving in straight lines.
When you focus on one of the black X’s in the middle, they appear to follow the curved white lines instead. That’s the Mainz-Linez Illusion, first demonstrated in 2025 by Ian M. Thornton, Anna Riga, Sunčica Zdravković, and Dejan Todorović.
This is exactly why perception is so fascinating.
Your brain isn’t just passively recording what’s in front of you. It’s interpreting what it sees based on context, patterns, expectations, and what it has learned to pay attention to.
The same thing happens in real life.
One person hears feedback and feels supported. Another hears the same words and feels criticized. One person sees an opportunity. Another sees risk. One person feels safe. Another feels threatened.
The event may be the same. The filter is different.
That’s why subconscious work matters. Hypnotherapy helps access the deeper patterns and associations that influence how your mind interprets the world, while coaching helps you apply those changes in real life.
Sometimes, changing your life begins by changing the filter you’re looking through.
