' Putting on weight consistently despite working out and eating high fiber and high protein diet...' I hear this almost daily from patients who are exercising regularly, increasing protein, focusing on fiber, and still watching the scale climb or their body feel unfamiliar and uncomfortable.

As a board-certified obesity medicine physician, I want you to know this is NOT a lack of effort or discipline. For many women, the 40s bring significant body changes driven by perimenopausal hormone shifts, metabolic changes, sleep disruption, stress, insulin resistance, thyroid changes, gut health issues, and even medication effects.

Here’s what I want every woman to hear:
👉 If your body is changing despite strong, consistent habits, it is NOT a personal failure.
👉 It is often a medical and hormonal conversation that deserves attention.

Many women are told to just “eat less and move more,” but that approach often misses the bigger picture. The most effective and sustainable solutions usually come from understanding root causes and creating personalized, evidence-based plans.

If you’ve been feeling frustrated, discouraged, or like your body suddenly changed the rules — you are not alone, and there is help available.

Your body isn’t betraying you. It’s asking for a different strategy that utilises principles of evidence based medicine

Have you ever lost weight and then regained it?f you answered yes — you are NOT alone.

As a board-certified obesity physician, I want you to know this is not about willpower.

When you lose weight, your body activates powerful survival mechanisms:
• Your metabolism slows
• Hunger hormones increase
• Your brain signals you to regain weight

This is biology — not failure.

Obesity is a chronic medical condition, and like other chronic conditions, it often requires medical treatment, not just lifestyle changes.

Medical treatment can help address these biological barriers.

Micro-dosing GLP-1 medications: trend, tool, or trouble?

As a board-certified obesity physician, I’ve been getting this question almost daily.

“Can I just take a tiny dose of GLP-1 long-term?”

Here’s the truth most people aren’t hearing:

GLP-1 medications like semaglutide and tirzepatide are not magic because of the dose - they work because of how they change the brain-body signaling around hunger, satiety, and metabolic regulation.

Micro-dosing may help some patients with:
• Reducing “food noise”
• Improving portion control
• Enhancing metabolic stability
• Maintaining weight loss after reaching goal

But micro-dosing is NOT appropriate for everyone.

Too low of a dose may:
• Fail to adequately treat the biology of obesity
• Lead to weight regain
• Create frustration and discouragement
• Give the false impression that the medication “doesn’t work”

Obesity is a chronic, relapsing, biologically driven disease — not a willpower problem.

The goal is not the lowest dose possible.

The goal is the right dose for your biology.

For some patients, that may be a lower maintenance dose. For others, it requires a higher therapeutic dose to fully quiet the disease process.

This is why medical supervision matters.

Not social media protocols.
Not compounded guesswork.
Not DIY dosing.

Personalized, evidence-based obesity care.

If you’ve been curious about GLP-1 therapy, micro-dosing, or long-term maintenance, the most important step is working with a physician trained in obesity medicine who understands the chronic nature of this disease.

Because treating obesity isn’t about chasing trends.

It’s about restoring metabolic health for the long term.

Everyone keeps asking me the same question:

**“When will RETATRUTIDE be available?”**

Here’s the honest, evidence-based answer:

**Retatrutide is NOT FDA approved and is NOT available right now.**

Yes—the clinical trial results are extremely impressive, showing up to **~28.7% average weight loss** in studies. That’s why there’s so much excitement and attention around it.

But excitement does not equal approval.

Based on current clinical trial timelines, **retatrutide is projected to become commercially available around 2027–2028 at the earliest**—and that is only if it successfully completes Phase 3 trials and receives FDA approval.

That means right now:

• It cannot be prescribed outside of clinical trials
• It is not available at pharmacies
• It is still considered investigational
• Any product claiming to offer it today should raise serious concerns

My job as a board-certified obesity medicine physician is to help you use **what is safe, proven, and available now—while preparing for what’s coming next.**

Retatrutide is promising.

But here’s the truth most people need to hear:

I know many patients are waiting for the “next best medication.” The good news is we already have several FDA-approved, highly effective treatments available today that are helping patients lose significant weight and improve their health safely.

The future is incredibly promising.....But your health doesn’t have to wait for the future.
