Art creation and singing for me has become much more than skill development and achievement. It has become a lifeline. A way to express experiences and emotions I can’t put words to. It’s a way to practice being vulnerable, to mess up and lean into the messiness and feelings of perceived failure or fear of rejection. A way to be fully present in curiosity and creation, that translates into every aspect of my life.

I have loved teaching art classes to adults. And now I am so excited to do art camps for kids and teens in June! These classes will explore different techniques or methods. But mostly it will be a safe space for them to explore being present in play and creation without shame or judgement. It will teach them another way to regulate their nervous system. And possibly give them a new approach to learning based on curiosity and wonder.

If they can apply this approach to other areas of learning, it opens up a whole new world of possibilities and confidence.

I still have spots available for these classes! Space is limited but at this moment, there is availability. Comment below if you would like details.

Also, if you are interested in one-on-one art or voice emotional support sessions, I have a few spots open for that too!

My oldest son Adam Brandt is a senior in the Film program at UVU on the director’s track. He has a lot of experience working in every aspect of film. He is very talented and hardworking. If you have any connections at all to help him land a job with a studio in Utah please let me know!

He is willing to volunteer time as well but really needs a paying job. His current job has cut his hours considerably and he has bills to pay. He has sent his resume to several studios and is actively applying for jobs. I am just doing what I can to network for him.

The past few years have been incredible for the Maple Mountain Band program. In spite of a lot of big changes these students continue to work hard and receive high marks in whatever they do. I had the opportunity to serve as booster president for this program for three years so have seen firsthand what a boon this program has been to our students and our community.

Recently, the advanced jazz band received the highest possible score in every category at state festival.

I hope you take a look at this flyer and consider attending this special event to help raise money for our band program.

It will be a blast full of good music, good food and dancing, and a silent auction. 9th grade and above are welcome!

After 5 months of preparation and waiting (mostly) patiently 🤣,…I drove this beauty home yesterday. She checks all the boxes on my wish list.

Yesterday I got up and got the very physical sensation and impression that my car was ready for me to pick up. I have been searching and researching painstakingly for 5 months and nothing felt right. I had no idea where to go.

Learning to trust my intuition has been a lifelong of intentional effort and cultivation. Learning to trust the timing of things has been even more challenging to cultivate.

But here she is! I am not usually one to be attached to things. I could care less about having a fancy car or house.

And as I am learning to ask God/universe more specifically for what I desire, I didn’t want to settle. I could have dealt with being without a car longer. And, i am so grateful the timing came sooner than later!

Feeling blessed this Easter! I am mostly grateful for my relationship with Jesus, mother and father. I am grateful to have had their love and companionship through excruciatingly hard things. I am grateful for the gifts that have come as I have chosen to rise above them.

Good things truly do come to those who show up and wait in faith.

Palmer came home this morning on cloud nine. Hardly slept a wink last night due to an early flight. But has been grinning ear to ear all day showing no signs of slowing down haha.

This was definitely a highlight for him. The opportunity to perform wit such high caliber musicians like himself takes the experience to a whole new level. I am so thrilled for him!

And I am catching up on finding the news articles from this weekend. So fun to see him get recognized for his hard work.

The concert tonight was incredible! The film crew did a good job blessing me with some good close ups so I could see the sheer joy on his face.

This darling boy knocked it out of the park last night at his concerto competition. We all knew he would! He was so expressive with the most beautiful tone quality and skill. He took my breath away and made my eyes leak!

The orchestra did a beautiful job playing his piece! So grateful to Blanka Bednarz and Utah Valley Youth Symphony Orchestra for all you do for these kids! The orchestra was especially brilliant last night and they are only kids!
I don’t have access to the recording yet but I will share snippets when I can.
So blessed to have some siblings and nieces and nephews come as well! Kim Palmer Palmer Sophie Palmer. Cheryl Beitler Palmer.
Grandma Joni Schreiber Brandt came from Colorado too! She was so gracious to buy Palmer’s tux so he can look his best. (Hopefully he doesnt grow too much more so he can use the tux through college. 😬🤣)

A special thank you to his private teacher and band directors Ray Smith MiKae Osborn Joshua Hurst for mentoring Palmer and providing all the opportunities for him to grow in his passion.

I dropped this cute boy off last night for his first rehearsal and had to capture a few pics, which he found highly unnecessary. 😂

I told him someday he will appreciate the documentation of his journey.

I found it so cool to see the 18 spots with their names and what high school they are from.
Only 18 spots in all of the state of Utah!

This morning I dropped him off for day 2 rehearsal. This Is going to go from 8am-10pm with a lunch and dinner break.

Tomorrow there is a morning rehearsal then a concert at 3:15.

I asked him when he usually starts feeling tired in these rehearsals. He said about an hour before the end. Except he never seems to show it. This kid is tough and i am sure his daily 3-4 hrs of practice on top of school and three years of greulling marching band seasons has helped build that stamina.

I can’t wait to hear what these kids can pull together! bandislife
