This work extends the unique gift of allowing us to begin as strangers and continue on as friends. I will forever cherish that when it comes along.
This family is one that we are so grateful to have had that opportunity with and one where we’ve had the joy of being able to watch each other grow.
We met all the way back in 2017, before I had even started on my journey to midwife. I got to support her as a doula for her second baby and we became fast friends—something I treasure. I can’t fully express how much of an honor it is to have that alone, but then to be chosen again as families grow. I’ve gotten to walk with this family first as a doula, then as a student, and finally as primary midwife. I’ve witnessed her strength and her bravery time and time again and watched her babies grow into not-so-little children, bright with curiosity (and a little spice 😉).
I say this is work—but rarely does it ever actually feel like “work”. The love I have for it is expansive and something I do not take for granted. Thank you for your trust. Your friendship. For seeing me in my humanness and allowing us to meet you in yours. Love you to bits, my friend 🤍
