It is with the heaviest of hearts that I bring you the news that La Lune Tattoo Collective is
officially no more. You all have made these last years a RESOUNDING success, offering unending support and proof that safe, clean, empathetic, client-centered studios are needed. Unfortunately, there are a number of factors that I simply cannot overcome that have lead to this extraordinarily painful decision. A significant factor is the state of downtown. These last couple years (and especially the last few months) the state of downtown has become untenable.
Cleaning up human waste from outside our front door is not an uncommon occurrence. Recently, I had to stop a session to literally narcan a man back to life only to have him become irate at me for doing so. I love downtown. There is so much culture and life. But it no longer feels safe for myself, my artists, and our clients. This is, of course, not the only reason. Running a small business is the most difficult thing I’ve ever done. To do so while tattooing full time (and trying to be a present mother) is damn near impossible most days. I’ve not had a true day off in years. Rising supply costs and a thousand other tiny things are factors as well. They all add up to this decision. Myself and our artists will all continue tattooing. I encourage you to support them all during their difficult transition. Even just following and liking their posts does a WORLD of good.
I will continue tattooing in a private studio setting. If you’ve an upcoming appointment with me, I’ll reach out soon with details. If you want to book with me, you know how to reach me. Thank you ALL from the bottom of my deeply saddened yet grateful heart.
I’m blown away by the incredible support you’ve all given and I will be forever thankful to every artist and client who made Lune thrive.
Deepest, sincerest love, .mort.tattoo
