When the Spirit Remembers Its Name

The old ones taught
that every soul carries two fires—
one given by the earth,
and one kept by those
who walked before us.

There are seasons
when the road becomes quiet,
when even the wind
seems to forget our name.
But the heart still knows
where it belongs.

Do not fear the burning away.
Some things must become ash
before the spirit can travel lighter.
Some wounds are not endings,
but doors the ancestors leave open
so wisdom may enter.

Walk gently.
Speak only what your heart can carry.
Leave no anger where children may find it.
Give thanks to the ground beneath you,
for it remembers every footstep
without asking who was worthy.

And when your strength grows thin,
listen for the oldest voice within:

What is sacred is never truly lost.
It only changes the way it walks beside us.
