Our thoughts and prayers 🙏 are with our team member Kayla Minton, as she has recently lost her grandfather. His ⛪️ services will be this week. We are thinking of her family at this difficult time.

Claude Henry Morris 81, of Dayton, Tennessee passed away at his home Thursday August 27, 2026. He was born September 13, 1944 in Dayton, Tennessee to the late Henry Coy and Ruth Smith Morris. Claude was a lifetime resident of this area. He attended school in Rhea County and was drafted into the Army, serving in the Vietnam Conflict and then he served with the National Guard. Claude worked in construction for the duration of his career. He was an avid pool player and loved to fish. Claude was a member of Pleasant Dale Baptist Church.

Claude is also preceded in death by wife Willetta Morris, his brothers Johnny Morris, Leroy Morris and by his sisters Margie Howell and Bertha Woody.

Survivors include his son Scottie (Dana) Morris of Dayton, Tennessee, his daughters Crystal (Dale) Minton of Evensville, Tennessee and Janice Ray of Dayton, Tennessee, his brothers Robert Morris of Georgia, David Morris of Dayton, Tennessee, Coy Morris of Winfield, Tennessee and Ray Morris of Dayton, Tennessee, his sisters Mary Daniels of Spring City, Tennessee and Linda Long of Georgia, his grandchildren Sarah, Kayla, Bradley, Haley, Wesley, Jacob, Katie, Josh, Tyler, and Zack, several great-grandchildren including Asher and Alice and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at 2PM in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with the Rev. Stanley Hawkins officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12PM until the time of the service. Interment will follow in the Smyrna Cemetery.
