This past holiday weekend, an assisted living facility experienced a sudden fire caused by a lightning strike. Thankfully, due to the swift action of their incredible staff, no injuries were reported. However, the incident left multiple residents unexpectedly displaced.
​Without hesitation, the Heartwood Lodge team jumped into action to activate emergency support and welcome these seniors into our community.
​A massive thank you to our EVS team, Activities Director, Staffing Coordinator, Frontline Staff, and Administrator who spent their holiday weekend ensuring every new resident could be safely and comfortably settled in.
​We also couldn't have done this alone. Our amazing community partners moved mountains to help us prepare:
​-Carelinc had emergency beds delivered to our facility within the hour.
​-Trinity EMS and MATS sprung into action immediately to transport the seniors safely to their new temporary home.
​While it is never easy or convenient to be displaced from your home, we are so incredibly grateful for the safety of everyone involved. To our new temporary residents: you are so welcome here. We can’t wait for you to join in our daily activities, connect with our community, and make the very most of your stay with us!

This week, Trinity Health Senior Communities Heartwood Lodge and Village at the Oaks, both in West Michigan, welcomed all colleagues to their first Mission Fairs. These events demonstrated how rooted in our Mission and Core Values each of our jobs truly is. They were well attended, well received, and lots of fun. Her journey in healthcare is a true testament to dedication and passion. She started her career at just 16 years old as a dietary aide and has touched nearly every facet of senior care since. From serving as a Dietary Aide, CNA, LPN, and RN to mastering specialized roles in Infection Control, Staff Development, Restorative care, and Assistant Director of Nursing—she has truly done it all.
With years of experience successfully leading a 5-star nursing home, she brings a wealth of expertise and a deep commitment to clinical excellence to our community.
