How Medicine Travels in the Body (Pharmacokinetics)
Once you take a medicine—by mouth, injection, skin patch, or inhalation—it goes through several stages:
Absorption – Medicine enters your bloodstream.
Distribution – It travels to the target area (like lungs, liver, or brain).
Action – It binds to specific cells, enzymes, or receptors to create its effect.
Metabolism – The liver breaks it down after the job is done.
Excretion – It’s removed from the body, usually through urine or stool.
