READ THIS 👇🏻 before getting forehead botox

The forehead is the most complex area to treat...all injectors will agree

This is because it can have huge effects on eyebrow & eyelid position...the 2 things you care about the most

🚫You shouldn’t get the forehead treated without the frown line area treated

Botox in the frown line muscles support the brows for Botox in the forehead

And reduces the risk of the brows getting or feeling lower after forehead Botox

❗️⚠️Be cautious if you have heavy eyelid skin⚠️❗️

The forehead muscle is the ONLY muscle that allows you to lift up this skin

Relaxing it may make the skin look or feel worse

This is a post I never imagined I would have to write.

I am gutted. Me, who hates vulnerability, has been brought to physical tears.

Pamela is not only my business partner, but my best friend. We have worked side by side, full time, for over a decade…spending more time together than we have our own families.

She pours so much love into our patients, into me. Her patience with my perfectionism, neuroses, and every questionable moment of mine has never gone unnoticed.

She taught me some of my earliest injection skills, and together we poured every ounce of our being into building an ethical practice we are proud of. Words will never capture the sacrifice, stress, and relentless effort this took.

Life has opened an incredible door for her family, one they simply cannot let close. And with a very heavy heart, I must share that Pamela will be departing from The Facial Refinery as she and her husband relocate to Kansas City.

I am heartbroken to imagine my life and our practice without her presence every day. Her last day will be August 28th.

If any of you are in the Kansas City area, please welcome her with open arms. And if you are one of Pam’s patients, it would mean the world to both of us for you to continue supporting her dream at The Facial Refinery.

I rarely ask of my Instagram community, but for the first time, I am asking for encouragement, prayers, and positivity. 🤍

This first photo is one of my favorite pictures of us. This was taken during Houston’s hurricane Beryl in 2024, when nearly all of Houston was without power…us for almost a week. We were sitting in the front door frame of our building…the door open to let light in. We had deliveries scheduled pre hurricane, so we had no choice but to stay there…in the humid July heat with no AC, no lights, no phone reception. What I then considered such an inconvenient situation has become one of my favorite memories.

In this patient, overactive mentalis and DAO muscles were creating resting and expressive tension, chin dimpling, and smile asymmetry

By carefully relaxing these muscles with Dysport, her lower face appears smoother and more relaxed, while her smile became more balanced and symmetrical

Win. Win. Win.

The number of patients that have told me they are doing this were enough for me to make this video!

Don’t let AI’s opinion give you a complex 🤖

At the end of the day, the best treatments for you are a combination of:
- what bothers you
- what’s going to compliment you
- and what’s actually achievable

The primary cause of medial brow drop is weakening of the lower central frontalis fibers responsible for medial brow support

It’s possible to have a combination of causes

The forehead and glabella are intricately connected, well beyond what I presented here

Medial brow drop is highly avoidable

Toxin is so much more complex than simply removing wrinkles

A decent percentage of the public assumes the term “aesthetic injector” is some type of regulated credential or license

Like many other medical professionals, I use the term myself. But unless explicitly stated, the title itself does not tell you what credentials a person actually holds. For this reason, I feel professional licenses should always be stated in conjunction.

I am a firm believer that all injectors should be licensed medical professionals. I’ve lost count of how many times our education and clinical experience in other specialties have supported the health and safety of our patients in aesthetics.

Patients should know exactly who is treating them and be able to easily identify and verify their professional license.

In patients with a lower-sitting or horizontally shorter brow,
the arch sits lower and more medial.

This means toxin targeting the arch is closer to the orbital rim and ultimately closer to the orbital septum.

While rare, this increases the likelihood of toxin reaching the muscle that keeps the eyelid open, the levator palpebrae superioris (LPS).

If this area is being treated, it needs:
• Low dose
• Concentrated solution
• Very superficial placement

PS: My brows are naturally quite high and well above the orbital rim, so I would be the polar opposite of what I’m describing.
