In May, we recognize both American Stroke & High Blood Pressure Education Month, which raises awareness for stroke warning signs, prevention, high blood pressure screening and management.
People with high blood pressure may not even realize they have it. High blood pressure often has no warning signs. Early screening and management of high blood pressure can help lower your risk for stroke and other serious health problems.
To manage your high blood pressure, you should:
✔️ Perform routine blood pressure checks
✔️ Eat healthy and get enough physical activity
✔️ Manage stress
✔️ Take medications as prescribed
✔️ Follow-up with your provider regularly
In addition to high blood pressure awareness, learn the signs of stroke, think FAST: face drooping, arm weakness, speech difficulty, and if you observe symptoms it is time to call for help.
Controlling your blood pressure is critical in preventing a stroke. Schedule your blood pressure screening today.
