Every day, CRNAs leave their homes and families in larger cities to care for patients in rural America making sure communities have access to safe, timely surgery when they need it most.

In Illinois specifically, CRNAs provide more than 80% of the anesthetics needed.

Without these providers, many patients would face longer travel times, delayed procedures, and unnecessary barriers to essential care.

It is imperative that Illinois law is modernized to reflect what CRNAs already do. As shortages and costs of healthcare continue to rise, the necessity to act has become more imminent.

Something big is coming.

The IANA website is undergoing a major renovation, and we can’t wait to show you what we’ve been building.

As nurse anesthesiologists, we’re proud of the legacy we’ve inherited, but our responsibility doesn’t stop there. Our job is to build what’s next.

Healthcare is changing. Our patients’ needs are evolving. As a profession, we must adapt to meet them where they are.

Across Illinois, CRNAs are expanding access to anesthesia care every day. In many rural communities, nurse anesthesiologists are the primary providers ensuring patients receive the care they need close to home. We understand what happens when surgeries are delayed, when access is limited, and when communities struggle to recruit healthcare providers.

We’re working alongside organizations like ISAPN and ANA, building coalitions with legislators and community leaders who are committed to improving access to care for every Illinoisan.
