Step right up for the greatest lunch show on earth!
We’re celebrating National School Lunch Week (Oct 12–16) and the incredible school cafeteria teams who juggle nutrition standards, big crowds, and delicious menus every single day!

We invited middle school performing arts students across Fairfax County Public Schools to create short videos inspired by this year’s “Cafeteria Circus” theme—and now it’s YOUR turn to pick the winner! The class with the most votes wins a special prize.

At CEP schools, all students may receive free breakfast and lunch!

This is a great opportunity for students to discover and taste new foods. Even if your child brings a packed lunch, encourage them to go through the lunch line to try something new!

Did you know that it can take multiple exposures to a new food before a child is willing to try it? Since school meals are free at CEP schools, there is nothing to lose by giving something new a try.

Plus, students have access to unlimited fruits and vegetables, so they can sample a variety of options and even come back for more of their favorites!

Visit our website to see if your child’s school participates in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) and offers free breakfast and lunch to all students.

Serve up success and make a difference every day with FCPS Food & Nutrition Services!

Join us at our Job Fair on Monday, October 12, 2026, from 9 A.M. to 12 P.M. at Marshall High School. Please enter at Door #13.

We are hiring:

• Food Services Workers — $17.72 per hour as a substitute and $19.61 per hour upon selection for a permanent position
• Food Services Van Drivers — starting at $20.08 per hour

Training is provided. Benefits include paid training, paid school holidays, health and life insurance, paid sick leave, retirement plans, and full-time benefits for part-time work.

Candidates need access to transportation, the ability to pass a background check, eligibility to work in the US, and a negative TB test within 12 months. Previous food experience is a plus.

Attention Parents! Want to help your child try new foods?

Buying a school lunch is a great way to expose your child to new foods, including fresh fruits and vegetables!

It often takes seeing a new food many times before a child is ready to try it on their own. That is why our unlimited salad bar is such a great opportunity for students to explore new fruits and vegetables. They can take what they want and come back for more if they enjoy it.

School lunch makes it easy to encourage healthy eating habits while giving students the chance to discover new foods!

This week, we’re celebrating the farmers, growers, and local partners who help bring fresh, Virginia-grown foods to our schools!

From the farm to the cafeteria, there’s a lot that goes into getting local food onto our students’ trays. We’re excited to celebrate the connection between our schools, our students, and the incredible farmers who grow our food. ❤️

Kitchen Team Spotlight: Oak View Elementary! 💐

This week, we’re celebrating the amazing kitchen team at Oak View ES! ❤️

This team truly works like a well-oiled machine — always supporting one another, stepping in when needed, and working together to keep everything running smoothly. 👏

From busy mornings to long lunch periods and everything in between, they show up every day with teamwork, dedication, patience, and a positive attitude.

Their hard work behind the scenes makes a BIG difference in our school community, and we are so grateful for everything they do!
