Wildfire season is here, and ensuring that you and your loved ones are prepared is a crucial step. Beyond memorizing evacuation routes and packing a go-bag, reviewing your homeowners and auto insurance policies can be a key step to help prepare in case the worst were to happen.

That said, it’s a good idea to confirm that your homeowners or renters policy covers fire, smoke, and ash damage, and check your auto policy if you want coverage for your vehicle as well, since that typically falls under a comprehensive auto policy rather than homeowners coverage.

Additionally, look at your additional living expenses limits and ask yourself honestly whether they would cover your costs if you were displaced for several weeks or longer.

If you have questions about your current coverage, or if you want to talk through layering on policies to help protect your belongings in case of a wildfire, don’t hesitate to reach out to our team. We are here to help protect what you have built.

As we transition into fall, deer are more active, especially during dawn and dusk. With that in mind, it’s important to be extra vigilant on the roads throughout the season.

Here are some tips to keep you safe:

1️⃣ Drive slowly, and stay alert. Reduce your speed, especially in rural and wooded areas.
2️⃣ Always scan the shoulders for deer. At night, watch for the reflection of deer eyes in your headlights.
3️⃣ If driving at dawn or dusk, use your high beams when appropriate to increase visibility.
4️⃣ It may be tempting, but try to avoid swerving. If a deer appears, it's much safer to immediately brake and hit the deer than to swerve and risk a more serious accident.
5️⃣ Keep an eye out for more deer. Where there’s one, there are usually more.

If you have an incident with a deer and need guidance on filing a claim, we are always here to help. Stay safe and drive carefully this season.

As you may know, it’s almost time for Medicare’s annual enrollment period (AEP), a key opportunity to alter your Medicare health and prescription drug plans for the upcoming year. The Medicare AEP runs from October 15th to December 7th every year, making now a potentially advantageous time to review your current coverage and plan ahead for any changes next year.

Thinking about this now, before the period opens, can make the process easier and give you enough time to compare options and make an informed decision about your care. Swipe for a few areas to revisit as you prepare for the beginning of the AEP.

A little preparation now can make the process simpler and help you choose coverage that fits your needs. That said, if you’d like to go over your current plan, feel free to reach out. We are always here to help you carefully assess your needs so you can make an informed decision.

With back-to-school season top of mind and August being National Traffic Awareness Month, our team wanted to take a moment to share some practical road safety reminders for this time of year.

The return to school brings one of the most significant changes in daily traffic patterns of the entire year. A few moments of extra caution can make an enormous difference. Swipe for a few traffic safety considerations for both motorists and parents of young children to keep in mind as back-to-school season approaches.

By staying alert, following the rules, and looking out for the most vulnerable people on our roads, we can all play a role in keeping the roads safe this school year.

Please feel free to share this with anyone in your network who might benefit from these reminders. And if you ever have questions or need assistance, we are always here to help leverage our expertise for your benefit.

Turning 65 soon? Our team at Oregon Insurance Company knows Medicare enrollment can feel confusing, and many people aren’t sure when or how to get started.

Here are a few key reminders to help you stay on track:

• Know your enrollment window. You have seven months to enroll: three months before your 65th birthday, your birthday month, and three months after.
• Understand how to sign up. Some people are automatically enrolled in Original Medicare, but others need to take action depending on their Social Security status.
• Avoid delaying without a plan. Missing deadlines can mean late-enrollment penalties and delayed coverage.
• Check for other options. If you’re still working and covered by an employer plan, you may qualify for a Special Enrollment Period.

Medicare can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to figure it out alone. Our team is here to help you understand your options and make confident decisions. Reach out with your questions anytime.
