Mission Statement
The labor room is a chapel, the birthing bed an altar and the laboring woman is an offering of love bringing forth new life into the world. Perfect Love Doula Services understands that birth, especially when approached in love and wonder, is a transformative and sacred moment in the life of a woman. As a woman’s soul is transformed through the physical process of birth, Perfect L

ove Doulas aim to assist the laboring woman to engage her body, mind and soul in the transformation. About Amanda, Founder
Before becoming a married woman and mother, Amanda Antony spent over 6 years in religious life (i.e. After realizing that her true vocation was to find the man who would hold her in awe and exclaim, “At last, this one is bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh,” she left the convent in search of her beloved. Four year later, she met Benedict who was searching for his “lost rib, tossed across oceans.” They were married in October 2017. In preparation for their first child, Amanda searched for a doula who shared her spiritual and moral outlook on pregnancy, birth and the unborn. She found a doula (whom she loves) through word of mouth and realized the need for Christian leadership in birth preparation and the labor room. She also developed a passion for a whole-person centered, evidence-based birth experience, one that engages the spiritual faculties through prayer. After a time of financial preparation, discernment and training, she made the leap to begin her journey as a doula and birth coach. Amanda looks forward to working with clients who desire to incorporate Christian spirituality into their birth experience. Using both traditional and modern modes of prayer, as well as modern doula techniques, Amanda will help the laboring woman to approach labor with interior strength, confidence and love.

Sometimes we need to KNOW within the depths of our hearts that no matter what, we are loved, supported and valid in our decisions. Sometimes, that need expresses itself in our body. Experiencing that unconditional, limitless love of a spouse is sometimes what a woman needs to let go and surrender.

Happy birthday, little girl. What an honor it was to welcome you.

I can't work miracles 🤷‍♀️ If a mama isn't willing to put in the hard work before and during labor, all the hip squeezes and affirmations in the world won't make up for it.

.
A doula can GREATLY influence the outcome of a birth (for good or bad!). An amazing doula may be worth more than your provider! You should consider hiring one. She can do a lot to facilitate a better and healthier birth for you and your baby and she should passionately want that for you.

BUT a doula can’t work miracles.

She’s not a magician, a prophet, or Jesus. Hiring a doula is not your guarantee of the perfect birth outcome. Signing that contract means the experience, support, advice, information, and time she is equipped and agrees to give.

⚠️ If you’re choosing a provider who is at odds with your birth plan...

⚠️ If you’re choosing interventions or testing that may compromise your choices...

⚠️ If you’re unwilling to examine your fears or trauma...

⚠️ If you’re expecting her to save you from the work of labor...

⚠️ If you won’t say no to a provider, a nurse, or hospital policy...

⚠️ If you’re expecting her to be your one-stop shop for all your education and research...

⚠️ If your husband isn’t supporting or trusting you...

⚠️ If you’re simply handing your authority and responsibility to her instead of the system...

⚠️ If you can’t set up boundaries with family...

⚠️ If you won’t consider any of her suggestions...

⚠️ If you have very real unavoidable complications...

“But I hired a doula!” isn’t going to fix it.

Even Jesus asks our cooperation and active participation to work in us and change outcomes. A good experienced doula CAN profoundly improve your birth. But she can’t birth for you. She can’t learn for you. She can’t make choices for you. She can’t fix situations outside her control. She can’t guarantee an outcome.

It is incredible joy and honor to be present at a birth. It’s humbling and rewarding when I know I’ve made a difference in a woman’s and baby’s birth and even longterm health. But best outcomes and experiences are when I serve a mother willing to do the work, willing to do the hard things, willing to claim the authority and beautiful birth God has for her.

A doula can do her best to work for Him but she can never ever BE Him.

"The loveliest masterpiece of the Heart of God is the heart of a mother." -St. Therese of Lisieux

A most happy and blessed mother's day to every woman - with 1 child or many children, women who long for children, and women who live out spiritual motherhood in the consecrated life or single life. What a beautiful gift we have been given through our feminity to experience motherhood in its many various forms!

Most especially, a very happy mother's day to my past and current clients whom I have had the extraordinary pleasure to serve and minister.

Today didn't go exactly as planned for my client but it was still a beautiful birthday. Breech, especially transverse breech, is never an easy road to navigate but mama held strong, worked hard, and made sure no stone was left unturned. Sometimes birth is just the opposite of what we planned, but that's what I love about it. We learn to surrender and trust.

Happy birthday, beautiful baby R!

I tell my clients all the time, physical discomfort in pregnancy is normal. Pain is not. If there is daily pain with normal daily activities, seek help from a skilled Webster certified chiropractor, a Spinning Babies aware physical therapist or ask your doula for suggestions. (Sure, bring it up with your OB, but be prepared for gaslighting 😫)

A 2025 study published in AJOG adds powerful, up-to-date data showing associations between doula care and improved maternal and newborn outcomes.

Key Maternal Outcomes:

More vaginal births after cesarean (VBAC): For every 100 patients who received doula care, there were 15 to 34 additional VBACs compared with those without doula care.

Higher postpartum follow-up attendance: 5 to 6 more per 100 received postpartum office visits.

Key Neonatal / Infant Outcomes

Increased exclusive breastfeeding rates: Babies whose families had doula support were more likely to breastfeed exclusively.

Fewer preterm births (and early preterm births): Doula-supported births showed a reduction in preterm birth rates.

In short, the study links doula care with improvements in birth outcomes — across birth mode (more VBACs), infant health (less prematurity), and early infant care (breastfeeding, postpartum follow-up).

Big Announcement! This class has been a labor of love for nearly a year now with the planning, re-working and testing of this course. It has been my dream for a while to create a down to earth, holistic, attachment lead postpartum and newborn care class and it is finally here!

Staroftheseadoula.com

I am oh so grateful for all the experienced moms who have shared their thoughts with me, fellow doulas who I have bounced this idea around with, the families who have let me test this class on them with so much patience, and for all my proof readers who mostly just listened to me fret about this class and not so much proof reading.

For more information about the class (cost scheduling and all that fun stuff) please check out my website. Please share this with anyone who you think would benefit!

I HATE due dates! I want them gone, out of the vernacular! Nearly every client that I've had go into labor before 40 weeks was taken by surprise and didn't feel ready. Nearly every client I've had go past 40 weeks gets frustrated because baby is "late." Imagine if providers used accurate language to inform a woman when she can expect to greet her baby, imagine all the stress and anxiety that could eliminate.
