I jumped out of bed this morning and rushed to what I thought would be a quick birth…

…18 hours later, I’m heading home. Because—say it with me—Birth is Unpredictable. 🙃

But seriously, this mom was sooo determined to get her VBAC. She mindfully chose several interventions to help her achieve her goal of a vaginal birth.

I’m so happy for this family!! 💗

This morning’s birth was so special! This repeat client (who has become a dear friend) had her fourth baby today.

She gave birth at home surrounded by her husband and all of her children. Her 10-year-old daughter even helped the midwife catch her baby brother! 🥹

Her 2-year-old let out a peal of joyful laughter as she laid eyes on the baby just moments after his birth. Her 12-year-old cut the umbilical cord.

This family-centered birth reminded me of being a young teen attending my mom’s (hospital) births. The girls were all so excited when I arrived, anticipating meeting their brother. So special!!

This client went into labor while I was supporting another client.

Thankfully, Steffanie Thomas, CD stepped in to help them for the first two hours until I was able to join them unexpectedly.

This mama got the redemptive second birth she was hoping for! 🙌

I spent over 12 hours today supporting a lovely client of mine. She worked so incredibly hard from start to finish to get her baby here safely.

Not everything went as planned, but this client had so much peace about it all. My clients always inspire me!

Today I had to be in two places at once because I had two clients in labor at the exact same time.

Thankfully Steffanie Thomas, CD came to my rescue and took great care of one of my clients while I served this one.

And this birth was just incredible!! I am tired but so happy.

24 years ago, I witnessed my first birth at age 11.

This week, I got to watch that baby (my little sister 🥹) give birth to her first baby!

This birth definitely went a little differently than we all pictured, but it was still so beautiful and family-centered.

And, of course, I’m absolutely in love with my newest niece! 💗

But seriously, this mama worked super hard to get her baby here today!

So thankful for the midwife team who coached her pushing through just so many positions and techniques to get baby here vaginally. Amazing!
