"It's understandable to have a fear of childbirth. After all, you've probably heard some pretty scary birth stories and certainly have seen childbirth depicted as an emergency countless times on screen.

It takes a little more searching to find positive birth stories, and blissful birth stories, but they do exist!

Why should you work on reframing any fear about birth you may have into confidence, or at least curiosity?

In labor, fear can cause the fear > tension > pain syndrome, in which fear causes tension in your body, and tension in your body can cause pain, and pain can cause fear, and round and round it goes.

This syndrome can negatively impact birth progress.

Oxytocin is the love hormone, and it's also responsible for labor contractions. Ocytocin flows more readily in the absence of fear.

Dancing is a natural way to release oxytocin and interrupt the fear-tension-pain syndrome. That's why dancing during labor adds bliss and ease to birth!

Instead of fear, you feel presence, and power, and confidence."

What happens when we begin recognizing how the patterns of birth also occur in everyday life?

In this Masterclass, guest expert LeShanta Baker introduces the Maternal Lens as a way of exploring what familiar maternal processes can teach us about change, growth, intensity, rest, adaptation, and transition.

We'll explore how these patterns can be recognized within larger life transitions, and consider what changes when we stop seeing them only as things that happen during pregnancy and birth and begin asking: What might this teach us about navigating life?
You'll gain practical ways to begin recognizing and applying maternal concepts in your own experiences, families, and work with others.
