The Productive Living Board for St. Louis County Citizens with Developmental Disabilities (PLB) is asking people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, their families, and community partners to share their needs.

Your input will help guide future planning, funding decisions and the services people need most.

Congratulations to Wendy Sullivan, recipient of a 2026 MACDDS Distinguished Service Award. Over more than four decades—including more than 30 years leading Easterseals Midwest—Wendy has championed the transition from institutional care to community-based services and expanded opportunities for tens of thousands of people with disabilities. Her visionary leadership, collaboration, humility and commitment to dignity have transformed disability services across Missouri and beyond.

Community connections make a difference!

Easterseals Midwest was glad to take part in Old Town Oktoberfest - Eureka, MO. Thank you to Amanda Browley for representing our organization and connecting with people in the community.

Together, we raised $140,000!

The 2026 All Stars for Autism campaign has wrapped up, and we’re grateful to everyone who helped make it a success.

Thank you to We Are Wallis, On the Run St. Louis, Dirt Cheap - STL Liquor Store, participating store teams, and every customer and community member who gave, shared, or helped spread the word.

From round-ups at checkout to barbecues, bake sales, raffles, and auctions, your support added up to $140,000 for Easterseals Midwest.

The campaign may be over, but the impact continues. Thank you for standing with people with autism and their families and helping create more opportunities to thrive.

This summer, students in Easterseals Midwest’s Summer Work Program gained hands-on experience at Pizza Ranch in Independence. They washed dishes, cleaned tables, stocked supplies, and worked together as part of the team.

With practice, they learned new tasks, solved problems, and grew more comfortable talking with others. One student even hopes to keep working at Pizza Ranch.

Thank you to Pizza Ranch for giving students the chance to learn, contribute, and build skills for the future.

St. Louis has earned the top spot! WalletHub named St. Louis the No. 1 U.S. city for people with disabilities in its 2026 ranking. Kansas City also made the top 10, ranking No. 9.

The study compared 182 cities based on factors like health care, housing, employment, and quality of life. WalletHub also found that about 98% of St. Louis parks are accessible.

This recognition is worth celebrating – but building inclusive communities takes more than a ranking. People with disabilities deserve access, opportunity, and the chance to take part in every part of community life.

This week, Home Visiting team members traveled to Portland for the Parents as Teachers National Center conference!

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), a time to celebrate the talents and contributions of people with disabilities in the workplace.

David has always loved animals and dreamed of working with them. After high school, he built workplace skills through Easterseals Midwest and received support in his job search. When the right opportunity did not immediately present itself, David began volunteering at the St. Louis Aquarium. A few months later, that opportunity became his first paid job.

Today, David has been promoted to full-time, helps support his family, and continues to set new goals for his future. His story shows what can happen when people have access to the right opportunities and support.
