Life update. 📣🎢🍿
Age 41. Business owner of 10 years. Esthetician 17. Mother. Wife. Elderly caregiver. A perimenopausal woman who showers with the curtain open. (F?!$ hot flashes) and now a
NURSING STUDENT. 📚💥
I made the decision 1000 times over to go back to school. I just never pulled the trigger. It’s not easy at this stage of life, nor at all something I’d recommend in perimenopause. But if there’s anything I know about myself, I thrive in chaos. The bigger the challenge, the bigger the reward. I spent the entire summer mapping out my plan in silence. I tried to imagine life this semester and how I’d do it all. I needed to imagine it before it could happen. I finally gave in. I just did “it. Enrolled in classes and started Monday. I have two semesters of my prerequisites and then jump head first into a 16 month accelerated BSN.
Nurse Jodi isn’t at all random or strange. I worked from age 18 to 28 in healthcare. I worked geriatrics, icu, psych, interventional medicine, cardiology, and beyond. I know more than someone should without the degree behind my name. I have been delaying this for years. I started years ago and got burnt out working in healthcare. I pivoted on a break from nursing school and became an esthetician. Never imagining I’d own a business. Never imagining 20 years would pass in the blink on an eye. But here we are.
The industry has changed. I have changed. If you would have told me what esthetics would look like today I wouldn’t have believed you. I wouldn’t even listen. It’s not at all the reality of where it was when I started. Good? Bad? I’ll let you decipher. I love what I do, but…….its time. It’s time for me to be the best version of who I am. I am smart. I am gifted. I’m absolutely relentless. I’m opinionated. I’m passionate. I’m devoted to results. I’m determined. For myself and for everyone I take care of. Just ask my private duty client. She really made me realize what Gd wanted from me.
So if you see me less or hear from me less, here’s why. If you think I’ve thrown in the towel, I’m just getting ready for a new load of laundry. You know how I love laundry.
