No fancy waiting rooms, no slick ad campaigns, no expensive equipment, just showing up for patients where they are and with what they need. That's IFM.
This sign is a visual representation of who we are. Partnering where we can, finding resources where they exist, and getting things done for those without other options for care.
This sign met those being served at Sts. Peter and Paul Parish meals program last week, letting them know "the doctor is in". By partnering with the Parish and the Deaconess Nurse Ministry, IFM is providing flu shots and physician support for the area's unhoused population - many with critical medical needs who have not seen a provider in years. Health care is essential for the unhoused and provides a path toward independence.

Earlier this week, this amazing group of medical students from Saint Louis University provided 50 flu shots for area Vietnamese Americans. IFM's CEO, Dr. Denise Buck (a SLU alum herself), serves as a physician mentor for their Vietnamese Community Outreach Project each year which provides this critical service. This is one of many ways IFM not only provides for the medically underserved here in STL, but also inspires the health leaders of tomorrow to give back in their community! Way to go all!

PARTNERSHIP is the name of the game! IFM and Saint Louis University have always shared a strong connection, but this year - we are really upping the game!
We are partnering to hold 7 FLU SHOT CLINICS across their schools of medicine, nursing, business, and law among others to make sure faculty/staff, students and even members of the community are immunized for the coming flu season!
WE PROVIDED 368 SHOTS ALREADY AT THE FIRST CLINIC YESTERDAY!
IFM has four staff nurse practitioners who are also part of the faculty/staff at SLU: Healther Wade, Samantha Marquard, Stacy Lobello, and Seth Bland who are helping with the clinics. They have mobilized SLU's nursing students to get shots in arms En mass across campus while IFM provides clinical and administrative oversight, event coordination (shout out to IFM's Flannery Harman!) and the actual vaccines. It's a WIN/WIN for both organizations and most importantly, for our STL community! Keeping health care providers, university faculty, students, and the public protected from the flu will help keep community transmission in check. Thanks to all volunteers and staff for their help in this major effort!

Feeling like a Fall refresher?
Join us for "Highballs at the Hi-Hat" on November 6th from 6-8 in the upstairs party room at the Hi-Hat Lounge in Soulard and enjoy some fall inspired highball cocktails, delicious appetizers, and good times - all to benefit IFM Community Medicine's primary care services for the medically underserved right here on our local community! Your ticket will include two fall-themed highball cocktails (or drinks of our choice) and heavy appetizers. And, come dressed to impress in your cocktail-wear for a chance win the individual and couple's attire contest! Represent the 1920s prohibition era, the 60's cocktail party scene, or today's amazing fall cocktail fashions - GET CREATIVE! The evening will also include door prizes, a raffle, and some inspiring words for IFM's amazing staff/volunteers! After the party, stay for the Hi Hat Lounge's live music downstairs. Measles is again hitting "too close to home" in our community with three cases now being reported with potential exposures in highly populated places including Busch Stadium and several local bars and restaurants.
If you are concerned about current symptoms or think you may have been exposed, it's important to know what to look for and when to seek help. Check out the graphics below!
And, we can't reiterate enough that your best protection from acquiring measles, which can have dire consequences, is to make sure you have been fully vaccinated and to obtain vaccinations for any children in your care.
IFM's community clinics offer vaccinations for children at no out of pocket cost. Make sure those you love are protected!

IFM Staff (pictured from left to right: Lisa Pathenos, Nolmin Sequeira, and Flannery Harman, not pictured, Dr. Denise Buck) set an IFM record for most vaccinations given at one event at the Black & Orange Back to School Resource Fair on Saturday!
82 students were given a total of 162 vaccinations so they'll be up to date and cleared to attend school on the first day!
All school districts in Missouri require age-appropriate vaccinations for children to attend school in our state, which keeps not only that student healthy, but their classmates, families, and the entire community as well! As vaccination rates have dropped significantly in the last few years, IFM and districts like Ritenour are committed to making sure their students have affordable, accessible options for clearing this hurdle in time for school to start.
The event also marked the kick-off of IFM's new partnership with the Ritenour School District where we'll have an ONSITE HEALTH CLINIC, open to all Ritenour students and staff, at the Ritenour Husky Service Center. Transportation to the Clinic will be provided by the District for students from every Ritenour school on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday mornings during the school year. Students with Medicaid or no insurance will pay no out of pocket cost to be seen and those with private insurance will pay only their co-pay. The clinic will keep students healthy and able to attend class by addressing their primary care needs including sick/well visits, injuries, immunizations, physicals, and prescriptions. Thank you to Ritenour for trusting IFM to provide this critical service for all of your precious HUSKIES! We're excited for the first day of school!
