Suicide is a national health problem that takes an enormous toll on family, friends, co-workers, and the entire community. AFSP provides opportunities for survivors of suicide loss to get involved through a wide variety of educational, outreach, and awareness efforts. AFSP’s growing network of more than 50 local chapters nationwide join together those who have lost someone to suicide, individuals

with mental disorders and their families, mental health professionals, community and business leaders, and others interested in preventing suicide. Our chapter volunteers deliver innovative prevention programs to schools and businesses, reach out to survivors of suicide loss, organize fundraising events, and act as a go-to resource for their entire community. They are at the forefront of increasing the public’s awareness of suicide as a public health issue that is preventable. Please join us today to help build a world without suicide.

Gun Storage Check Week takes place from September 1-7 and is a critical reminder that firearm owners and people that live in households with fi****ms must take action to protect against su***de. 💙

Over half of all su***de deaths in the U.S. occur with a firearm. There are measures that can reduce the risk of su***de for someone in crisis--from offering su***de prevention education for retailers, range owners, and fi****ms owners to encouraging safe storage--there are actions we can take to save lives. 💙
