Learning to draw convincing spheres is one of the best ways to understand light, value, and three-dimensional form.

This study shows how the same basic shape can change dramatically depending on how you control the value range. Start with a clean base color, then gradually build the light side, halftone, core shadow, reflected light, and cast shadow. The final polished sphere works because the values describe its form—not because the outline is detailed.

The reflective sphere takes the exercise further: instead of simply shading from light to dark, you have to observe reflections, sharp value changes, and distorted surroundings.

✏️ Practice tip: Before drawing portraits or complex objects, spend 10 minutes shading simple spheres. Train your eye to identify the lightest light, darkest dark, and the transition between them.

Twelve drawings. Twelve different ways of exploring the same question: how does geometry create form, movement and balance?

From the Torus and Sphere Torus to the Flower of Life, Metatron’s Cube, 64 Star Tetrahedron, Icosahedron, 3-6-9 wave patterns, Star Decagon and Rodin Coil Torus, these studies are part of my ongoing exploration of sacred geometry.

I’m fascinated by the way simple circles, triangles, lines and proportions can build increasingly complex structures — sometimes appearing almost architectural, sometimes organic, and sometimes as though they are describing movement or energy.

These are not simply finished drawings. They are experiments, discoveries and stepping stones towards my 3D printed sculptures.

Every line is a question.
Every intersection reveals another possibility.

Geometry is everywhere. I’m just trying to uncover some of its hidden patterns.
