Reiki is a gentle, yet powerful, energy healing technique. It provides an effective means of relieving one of today’s biggest health threats, stress. Releasing stress allows your body to balance its own energy and awaken its innate ability to heal.
The Reiki practitioner is a channel for this healing energy and applies it on or just above your fully-clothed body through a light touch in a quiet, peaceful environment.
As tension is replaced by the warm flow of universal life force energy, you are more easily able to heal on all levels. You, in effect, guide the healing process by setting your intention (relief from anxiety or grief, healing a relationship, recovery from a medical procedure or simply being open to whatever is needed), then allowing the Universe to fulfill that intention for your highest good.
Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a combination of two Japanese words - Rei and Ki. When they are used together to indicate the practice of healing, the word Rei means universal spirit and the word Ki refers to the life energy flowing through all living things. Reiki, therefore, means spiritually guided life force energy.
The ability to do Reiki is available to everyone, and is very simple to learn. In a Reiki class you receive an attunement that effortlessly connects you to Reiki energy. After that, all that is necessary is to place your hands on yourself or another person and Reiki healing energy will begin to flow.
