Be Still Counseling PLLC

Be Still Counseling PLLC Sometimes we choose change and then other times it chooses us.

Life can feel like a never ending cycle of storm after storm and despite your best efforts, you cannot stop it. I understand the frustrations that come when you just want peace in your life, but there never seems to be any. I can understand the type of anxiety when you haven’t even opened your eyes in the morning and you already feel a heavy weight on your chest that feels like your breath is bein

g ripped out of you. You scream, cry, and beg for it to all go away as you feel yourself slipping deeper into the pain you are experiencing. As a mother, wife, daughter, sister, you name it, I have been in life's darkest valleys like many of you reading these very words. Though you may feel alone and like there is no one there to talk to or to help you, I am here, I care and I want to hear your story. During therapy I help clients learn how to become their authentic self, gain control and make life more manageable. We work together by learning to control your emotions and letting go of the situations you cannot control to increase the function of daily life. We look at previous memories and moments that are holding you back from your future by exposing those instead of keeping them hidden, increasing more shame, guilt, and remorse. We will work together to increase your confidence, calmness, creativity, clarity, courage, compassion and connectedness so you can, be more present, patient, persistent and joyful.

🤍 Exciting News! 🤍

I’m honored to be speaking at the Anson County Partnership for Children Welcome Baby Safety Workshop on Maternal & Postpartum Mental Health.

Becoming a mom is one of the most beautiful transitions in life…but it can also be one of the hardest. We spend so much time preparing for labor, delivery, and caring for our babies, yet we often aren’t prepared for the emotional and mental changes that can come afterward.

People aren’t prepared for it because it was never taught to be ready.

During this workshop, I’ll be talking about postpartum depression, postpartum anxiety, baby blues, warning signs to look for, and most importantly, reminding moms that they are not alone. There is hope, healing, and support available.

As both a therapist and a mom, this topic is especially close to my heart, and I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to be part of an event that supports and equips families in our community.

If you’re an expecting parent, new parent, or someone who supports new moms, I hope you’ll consider attending!

💙 Thank you to Anson County Partnership for Children for allowing me to be a part of such an important event.

Mental Health Minute with Be Still Counseling

Topic: What is Dysthymia?

Not all depression looks like someone who can’t get out of bed.

Sometimes depression looks like…
Showing up to work.
Taking care of your kids.
Making dinner.
Smiling when people ask how you’re doing.
…while quietly feeling heavy inside.

This is one reason dysthymia (also called Persistent Depressive Disorder) often gets missed.

Dysthymia is a chronic form of depression that can last 2 years or more. Unlike major depression, it may not feel intensely debilitating day-to-day… but it creates a constant emotional heaviness that wears on you over time.

Common signs can include:
• Low mood most days
• Fatigue / low energy
• Irritability
• Difficulty feeling joy
• Low motivation
• Hopelessness
• Poor concentration
• Low self-esteem

Many people living with dysthymia tell themselves:
“I’m just a negative person.”
“I’ve always been this way.”
“This is just life.”
But hear me…

Just because something has been your normal for years doesn’t mean it’s healthy.

And just because you’re functioning doesn’t mean you’re flourishing.

You do not have to completely fall apart before getting support.
Sometimes healing begins with simply realizing:
“What I’m feeling has a name.”

And when we can name it… we can begin to understand it.

And understanding often becomes the first step toward healing. 💙
If this resonated with you, know that you are not alone.

✨POV: Your therapist has 7 minutes before the next client and is trying to mentally switch from trauma processing… to remembering where she put her Diet Dr.Pepper…while also telling herself to drink more water….while also wondering if she responded to that text from 3 days ago 😅

Friendly reminder: therapists are human too. We don’t have it all together 24/7… and honestly, we don’t need to!

Sometimes healing starts when we stop expecting perfection from ourselves!!

A milestone worth celebrating… I am officially a fully licensed therapist! 🤍

After years of graduate school, clinical training, supervision, thousands of hours with clients, paperwork, growth, and perseverance… I can finally say I am no longer an associate.

I am officially:

Ashton Taylor, MS, LCMHC, NCC

Becoming a therapist was never just about earning letters behind my name. It has always been about creating a safe space for people to heal, process, grow, and feel seen.

I’m incredibly grateful to God for sustaining me through every season — the exciting ones, the exhausting ones, and the ones where I questioned if I could keep going.

To everyone who has supported, encouraged, trusted, and believed in me… thank you.

I’m so honored to continue serving this community through Be Still Counseling. 🤍
