✨What an inspiring evening celebrating the 2026 Community Impact Award recipients!
🌺 On May 6th, the Stanford Medicine Office of Community Engagement (OCE) gathered with faculty, community partners, colleagues, and friends to recognize outstanding leadership and collaboration in community-engaged work.
🤝 The awards were presented by Wei-ting Chen, Ph.D., Executive Director, OCE, marking a meaningful moment of recognition and appreciation for this year’s honorees. Congratulations again to this year’s OCE awardees:
🏆 Desiree LaBeaud , Outstanding Community-Engaged Faculty Award
🏆 Ronald McDonald House Charities Bay Area(at Stanford), Outstanding Community Partner Award. Accepting on behalf of RMHC was Hernández, Vice President of Operations, and Stephanie Rocha, In-Hospital Family Hospitality Manager (Special thanks to Laura Keegan Boudreau, Chief Executive Officer, and Nicole Williams, Senior Strategy Officer who were unable to join us)
🎉 The evening was filled with meaningful conversations, shared stories, and reflections on the power of partnership in advancing health and well-being in our communities. We are grateful to everyone who joined us in celebrating the remarkable impact of this year’s recipients.

🎉The Stanford Medicine Office of Community Engagement (OCE) proudly recognized the recipients of the 2026 Community Impact Awards during a celebratory event held on May 6. These annual awards honor exceptional individuals and organizations whose work exemplifies excellence in community engagement and partnership.
This year’s honorees include:
🏆Dr. Desiree LaBeaud, recipient of the Outstanding Community-Engaged Faculty Award, and
🏆Ronald McDonald House at Stanford, recipient of the Outstanding Community Partner Award.

Both awardees were recognized for their sustained leadership, collaboration, and meaningful contributions to improving health and well-being through community-centered initiatives.
The Community Impact Awards highlight the vital role of partnerships in advancing health outcomes and fostering trust between academic institutions and the communities they serve. Through their dedication and impact, this year’s recipients embody the spirit of collaboration and service that defines community-engaged work.

🔉Vivian Levy, MD, Infectious Diseases Chief at San Mateo Medical Center

👏🏼 As a dedicated member of the Stanford Medicine Office of Community Engagement Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) Community Advisory Board, Vivian Levy, MD, serves as Infectious Diseases Chief at San Mateo Medical Center, the county’s safety-net health system, and as the County’s STD Control Officer. She represents patients who use San Mateo County Health services and collaborates closely with public health partners to reduce STI and HIV transmission across California communities.
Dr. Levy’s research centers on community-embedded public health interventions that generate relevant, actionable findings. She is committed to mentoring the next generation of researchers and seeks to expand opportunities for Stanford trainees through meaningful public health research and strong community partnerships.

🔉Meet Ting Pun, PhD, Stanford Community Health Council Member.

👏🏼A dedicated member of The Stanford Medicine, Office of Community Engagement, Clinical Translational Science Award (CTSA) Community Advisory Board since 2024.

Ting, brings a strong commitment to advocacy, learning, and equity in healthcare and research. Representing the elderly and caregiver community, Ting draws on his experience as a patient and caregiver advocate, including his service on the ADRC Community Advisory Board and his involvement with PCORI as an Advisory Panel member and Ambassador, where he developed a foundation in comparative effectiveness research and patient engagement. He views participation in the CTSA CAB as an opportunity to further learn about translational research and community engagement, and believes Community-Engaged Research (CEnR) is essential to addressing equity issues in healthcare. While still early in exploring how to advance and measure the benefits of CEnR, Ting emphasizes the importance of reaching out and building trust, recognizing that communities are willing, ready, and eager to be involved as meaningful partners in research.

🔈Meet Ramon Ramirez, Clinical Health Educator.

👏🏼A dedicated member of the Stanford Medicine, Office of Community Engagement, Clinical Translational Science Award (CTSA) Community Advisory Board since 2022.

Ramon brings a strong commitment to advocacy, collaboration, and equity in healthcare and research. With a deep focus on uplifting marginalized communities whose voices are often unheard, Ramon champions the inclusion of transgender and LGBTQIA+ individuals, recent immigrants, and other underrepresented populations. He believes that meaningful progress happens when community members, advocates, researchers, and educational institutions come together. By working collectively, Ramon emphasizes that everyone benefits, resulting in stronger partnerships and more inclusive, impactful outcomes for the communities served.
