Stanford Emergency Medicine Program for Emergency Response (SEMPER) is a non-profit, volunteer organization. Our missions are to:
• develop well-trained medical response teams that rapidly deploy to disasters and humanitarian relief efforts worldwide
• conduct original research on the medical aspects of disaster preparedness, response, training, education, and recovery
• disseminate lessons learned by educating medical providers and laypersons

Great training day for SEMPER! Everyone passed their pack test hiking 5 miles w their 30lb deployment bag, learned about new water purification technology, set up tents, reviewed communication protocols, safety and security and protocols, hazardous environment awareness training. We’re all that much more prepared for the next disaster!

Our second SEMPER Team has deployed to Tacloban, to continue medical assistance to the Filipinos as they transition care to their local health care workers. The Philippines is making good progress in their recovery from Typhoon Haiyan.

The SEMPER team has transitioned out of the disaster zone and prepare to come home.

A SEMPER Team of 6 has been in Tacloban working in the medical clinic for the last 10 days. This week, they treated 2574 patients in the last 4 days! The team of 4 in Guiuan continues to treat patients in the more remote villages, providing access to medical care. SEMPER Continues to stay strong providing medical relief to the Haiyan victims.
