The point of my perspective is not to excuse the gruesome murder of her children.
It is to say that all the medical professionals involved greatly failed Lindsay and unfortunately the conventional medical system daily fails women walking through postpartum- even if it doesn’t end in such devastating, permanent consequences.
While I think there is a time and a place for medication in the treatment of postpartum mood disorders or any mood disorder it should NEVER be the first response.
Was she eating consistent, nutrient dense meals and keeping her blood sugar balanced? Was she getting time outside? Did they look at her RBC magnesium, selenium, zinc, copper, ferritin, transferrin, ceruloplasmin, how about vitamin D and B12 or MMA. Did the do a high contrast CRP? There is just SOO much low hanging fruit that seems to have been totally overlooked unfortunately.
13 or 14 different phsychotropic medications in the span of 4-5 months is not going to fix underlying immunoendocrine dysfunction & postpartum mineral depletion.
Neurotransmitters and hormones are made from minerals and amino acids, not SSRIs.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE for the longterm wellbeing of yourself and your family. If you find yourself suffering from postpartum anxiety and depression, don’t just accept a pharmaceutical cocktail as the only answer. Maybe you need a medication for the short term until you get through the thick of it and find a provider that will leave no stone unturned to identify the underlying cause. BUT pharmecuticals alone are not the answer to postpartum mood disorders and/or autoimmune condiotions.
