🔈Community Partner Spotlight!

Kirsten connected with Elaine Williams, Executive Director of the Jenkins County Family Enrichment Center, the local Georgia Family Connection collaborative serving Jenkins County. This community-based non-profit organization works to improve the well-being and quality of life for children, youth, and families through prevention programming, youth leadership initiatives, literacy support, family assistance services, and community collaboration efforts. Their work includes Drug Free Coalition programming, food pantry distributions, mental health programming, housing and energy assistance connections, and youth-focused prevention education opportunities. They also operate an awesome teen center space next door that provides local youth with a safe, welcoming environment for activities, connection, and support.

🇮🇪 What an incredible experience! Dr. Nandi Marshall, American Public Health Association President and Associate Dean of Jiann-Ping Hsu College of Public Health at Georgia Southern University and the team had the privilege of visiting UCD, connecting with Dr. Mary Codd (Director of UCD's Master of Public Health & President-elect of The Association of Schools of Public Health in the European Region-ASPHER and the amazing people at the UCD One Health Centre: Dr. Niamh McLoughlin, Dr. Gerald Barry, and Katie Nolan. We're so grateful for the warm welcome and inspiring conversations!

We are thrilled to be launching our Rural Opioid Harm Reduction Project in Libraries! This project will transform rural libraries in Georgia into opioid harm reduction hubs, where communities can easily access resources about harm reduction, treatment, and recovery as well as receive naloxone.

As a critical part of the initiative, library staff will first receive specialized training designed to equip them with the knowledge and tools needed to serve as informed community resource navigators in rural areas where access to services may be limited.

had a fantastic visit to Wexford, where we had the pleasure of meeting with partners to present findings from our One Health Knowledge, Attitudes & Practices pilot study and to discuss exciting opportunities for future collaboration. We are truly grateful for this wonderful community and look forward to what lies ahead together. 🇮🇪
