Vivian Nan Grady is an intuitive contemporary artist, and drummer who will be coming up from Ionia, Michigan to participate in our Lecture Series with Dave Patterson, long-time Alaskan and community drum keeper with strong connections to Hawaii and its culture. He regularly hosts New Moon Drumming Circles in association with the ATOM Center. Vivian and Dave will be doing a collaboration of art and drumming inspired by the individual and collective human experience, in conjunction with Hawaiian traditions that respect the Aina (land) and our Ohana (family/community) and Spirit
Over a two-year period Vivian created a life size series of seven Messengers representing seven Messages of the collective and individual human experience encountered as we travel the road of life. The collection, in collaboration with inspired poetry and music of each painting, placed in the top 25 at the International Art Prize of Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Our intent is that through the combination of presenting the artwork, and sharing inspiration, and drumming, that you will also be inspired and come to an understanding that we are all somewhere on life's journey and that we seek "unity through community" even when we are in chaos. Much creativity comes from the messengers inspiration. Each person's experience will be unique and personal. Our intent is to provide an energetically positive space, and an outline for your personal journey with the messengers. You will have an opportunity to hear the story and sit with each messenger, hear the framework of Hawaiian traditions that synchronized with the messenger, and consider the implications in your life.
Come and be a part of this special presentation on Sunday, October 4, 2026 at 4pm. It will be the last lecture of our Series for the Fall Festival. Don't miss out!
