There's a way we often find ourselves reaching for rest that we could call false rest.

That extra glass of wine at the end of a long day.

The scrolling that stretches on for hours without us quite knowing why.

We know deep down these behaviors aren't restful, but somehow they take us to a rest place that isn't a true one.

The body stays braced, the mind stays busy, and we wake up no more restored than before.

True rest is something else entirely.

It's a place where the mind and body are entirely supported in a well of well-being, true nature, and peace.

The beautiful part is that we can cultivate it.

Breath can help us slow the body and slow the thoughts.

Yoga Nidra can guide us through clearing the five subtle bodies and into deep, profound stillness.

These are practices we can learn, and as we do, we can release false rest once and for all.

Come learn them with us this July at Clear the Path: Resources for the Sacred Self at Yogaville, where you can register here: https://www.yogaville.org/yoga-programs/12057/clear-the-path-resources-for-the-sacred-self-weekend-retreat/

The five subtle bodies are one of our greatest resources.

Did you know we even have five?

There's the physical body of sensation, the body of breath and energy, the body of feeling and emotion, the body of thought, memories, and images, and the most subtle of all, the body of joy.

As we rest and rotate our consciousness through them, we clear obstacles and whatever enters our fire of discrimination is burned away.

Neuroception is the autonomic body's response to danger.

It's the part of you that scans for threat beneath conscious awareness and signals when something feels unsafe.

Here's the thing though.

Most of the time, neuroception goes off in environments where we are actually safe.

The body sounds the alarm, the nervous system braces, and we react, even when there's no real danger present.

What if we could become more attuned to these responses instead of being anxious, panicked, or terrified by them?

What if, rather than reacting automatically, we could learn to ride the wave when neuroception is present?
This starts with becoming consciously aware of the moment it happens.

Instead of immediately reacting, we pause and witness.

We notice the message being sent and gently ask whether there is danger present, or whether the system is simply firing out of old habit.

Over time, this practice helps clear the false alarms.

We begin to save that powerful survival response for the moments we truly need it, rather than letting it run our days.

It's not about shutting the system down.

It's about befriending it.

Come learn micro-practices for working with neuroception this July at Clear the Path: Resources for the Sacred Self at Yogaville, where you can register here: https://www.yogaville.org/yoga-programs/12057/clear-the-path-resources-for-the-sacred-self-weekend-retreat/

Did you know you have five subtle bodies?

They may be one of your greatest and most overlooked resources.

There's the physical body of sensation, the body of breath and energy, the body of feeling and emotion, and the body of thought, memories, and images.

The most subtle of all is the body of joy.

As we rest and rotate consciousness through them, we clear obstacles and whatever enters our fire of discrimination is burned away.

Thought bombs have the capacity to completely blow up our peace.

The thing is, we don't even notice it, because it's automatic thinking.

What if we could begin to witness our thoughts and create space to bring online thoughts that are aligned with who we really are?

We can do this through a series of micro-practices as we move through the day, learning to notice them, name them, and change them.

Go deeply into how to diffuse thought bombs at Yogaville, Clear the Path: Resources for the Sacred Self, July 17-19 (tuition, classes, meals included with complimentary stay) at https://www.yogaville.org/yoga-programs/12057/clear-the-path-resources-for-the-sacred-self-weekend-retreat/
