👶 New baby? RSV season is here. Are you ready?

RSV is one of the most common respiratory viruses babies encounter—and for young infants, it can sometimes cause serious illness.

The good news? We now have more ways than ever to help protect babies from severe RSV disease. But with maternal vaccination, infant RSV antibodies, timing, eligibility, and a new RSV season, it can be hard for parents to know what their baby needs.

🚨 Measles outbreak in metro Atlanta

Measles is now spreading locally. Four children connected to a metro Atlanta daycare have contracted measles after exposure to an earlier case.

Measles is one of the most contagious infections we know. If someone with measles has been in a room, the virus can remain in the air for up to 2 hours after that person leaves.

Measles is not just a rash and fever. It can cause pneumonia, brain inflammation, and even death. It can also cause “immune amnesia”—wiping out some of the immune system’s memory of germs it has encountered before.

The good news: measles is highly preventable with the MMR vaccine.

💉 Children should routinely receive their first MMR vaccine at 12–15 months and their second at 4–6 years. If community spread increases, health officials may recommend an early dose for some infants 6–11 months old.

If your child is 12 months or older and has not received the MMR vaccine, talk with your pediatrician today.

And if you think your child may have measles, call your pediatrician before going into the office so they can protect other patients.
