November is Diabetes Awareness month!
Please make sure your Family and Friend's are aware of the warning signs for Type one Juvenile Diabetes. It could save a child's life! When Zachary was diagnosed I almost my son. I can still remember the look on the doctors face at St. Joseph hospital as he ran in the room and said We contacted UC Davis Children's Hospital, Mediflight is on the way to transport you and your son! I had absolutely No clue about type one the day my son was diagnosed. I was scared to death as I watched the doctor's working on my son and trying to explain type one to me. Zachary's blood sugar was 1050 when he was diagnosed. He had so many of these warning signs but they we're blown off as oh it's just the flu even by his pediatrician. Now that pediatrician does not write these symptoms off as the flu,nor do I. When my other three kid's get really sick I pay extra attention now!

We have been very lucky with the Amazing support that Zachary's school has given us in helping My son with his diabetes. One of the ladies in the office named Doria has been an absolute blessing to us. For the past few year's Doria has went beyond what I could have ever imagined in the way she cared for and helped with Zachary. Today was her last day at the school. I am super bummed but forever Greatful for everything she has done for us. We are wishing her all the best!!

Another morning of Zacky waking up not feeling well. Sugar is 401 with a large amount of ketones again. Already left a message for his nurse so I can get him in today. I don't want him missing anymore school as it will make it hard on him to return.

Zachary woke up this morning and looked horrible. His blood sugar was 438, with a Large amount of ketones. Hoping I can get him feeling better and these ketones down quickly.

I got up to test Zachary and he is low. I kept hitting the snooze on my alarm for a few minutes as I am exhausted.
My family and I have gotten useto the thing's we had to change in our life's and or do differently since Zachary was diagnosed but I will never be useto going to test him in the middle of night and him start crying because it hurt him. Heart Breaking! I know the D parents know exactly how i'm feeling. It hasn't in a while, but I forgot to check the setting!

Took Zachary to his endo appointment today. It actually went pretty good. His A1C was 7.8 and it hasn't been that high since being diagnosed 5years ago but isn't horribly bad.
I am kind of bummed as I really wanted to get Zachary the continuous glucose monitoring "CGM" to help me feel more comfortable about his blood sugars when he is away from me and during the night time hours. I am to scared to sleep all night without testing him. Hid endo told me that Kaiser is not easy to get the CGM through. He would have to have a lot of lows and highs continuously for them to ok it and that the co pays are expensive. I'm pretty bummed about it.

I don't know how this slipped my mind except for being exhausted,5 years ago today Zachary was diagnosed with type one. What a life changing morning that was. I am so very proud of my son for being so strong. I am also so grateful for the office staff at my sons school. They are amazing with him and so extremely helpful whenever He needs anything. I have heard some very scary stories about how kids are treated from their schools and we are truly blessed by their love and help!

Zachary's blood sugar is running really high this am. He is 500 and having stomach pains. His blood sugars have been amazing with his new insulin pump until now.

Zachary finally has his new Medtronic pump and meter! He has had great numbers since being connected to his new pump.

Zachary's insulin pump keeps saying motor error. I finally spoke to Kaiser and they are going to order him a new Medtronic pump. Yeah!! With having Kaiser we have a lot higher co pay then our old insurance.
