A little patchwork moment for my Hinterland Dress 🫶

Gaby from 🌿 Organic Fabric Company | Non-Toxic Fabric for Sewing sent me everything I need to make a Hinterland Dress. She included 3½ yards of white linen/cotton blend, the Hinterland Dress pattern, embroidery scissors, and a turning tool.

This sweet small business has quickly become my favorite place to source fabric. The fabric for this project is an Art Gallery Fabrics linen/cotton blend. It’s made from 55% flax linen and 45% cotton, which gives you the best qualities of both fibers. I love that this blend has structure while still draping beautifully.

One of my favorite things about this fabric is that it’s OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified. That certification means the finished fabric has been independently tested for a long list of harmful substances. Every component of an OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified textile is tested to meet strict human-ecology standards, making it a thoughtful choice for clothing that sits against your skin.

I have an additional order that I will share in another post that I will make into patchwork details for the Hinterland Dress. I’m also planning to add floral embroidery to the sleeves. Can’t wait to document this process!

The Amber Dress from The Sewing Pattern Label released yesterday! This was such a fun make and some of my favorite features are the sleeves, front ties (no zipper 👏) and pockets. I experimented with some patchwork and had to redo my measurements for the dress 3 times! Decided on French seams and a rough estimation on how many rows and columns based on precut fabric squares. I thought I added enough with inseams but my math wasn’t mathing. Officially in love with patchworking and can’t wait to continue practicing.
