Have you ever thought about sponsoring a child?

For just $38 a month, you can make a life-changing difference for a child in need.

Sponsorship is about so much more than financial support. It provides hope, stability, education, care, and the reassurance that someone believes in their future. For a child waiting for a sponsor, that connection can mean more than we could ever put into words.

For less than $10 a week, you can become part of a child’s story and help open doors to opportunities that may not otherwise be possible.

❤️ A child is waiting. You can make a difference today.

Visit www.heartsthathear.org to sponsor a child right now.

Two years ago, we completed the physical structure of a new kitchen at B.L. Tezza School for the Deaf. Today, we’re ready to take the next step: turning that building into a functioning kitchen. We are hoping to raise $3,000 to purchase and install two large cooking stoves and a sink, similar to the ones pictured in this post. The stoves will be installed inside the kitchen building with chimneys to safely carry the smoke outside. Right now, the staff cooks multiple meals throughout the day using small cooking pots. Feeding an entire school this way takes an incredible amount of time and work. These larger cooking stoves will allow the staff to prepare much more food at once, making a huge difference in their daily workload and in the daily lives of the children at B.L. Tezza. This kitchen has been waiting for two years. We would love to finally see it completed and filled with meals being prepared for the children we love so much. If you are able to help, please donate at:

Thank you for continuing to stand beside B.L. Tezza School for the Deaf and helping us meet needs that make a lasting, everyday difference.

Our team arrived safely back in the United States yesterday, with hearts that are full. Over the past two weeks, we experienced so many incredible moments, built meaningful relationships, and witnessed both the beauty and the heartbreak of life in Kenya.

As one of our team members said, “It was so much more beautiful and so much more heartbreaking than I expected.” That perfectly captures what it’s like to visit Kenya and truly get to know our students. Their joy, resilience, and love leave a lasting impact on everyone who meets them.

Thank you to everyone who prayed for us, supported us, and followed along on this journey. If you’ve ever considered becoming part of what God is doing at B.L. Tezza School for the Deaf, we’d love for you to join us. You can make a life-changing difference by sponsoring a child or by coming with us on next year’s trip to experience it for yourself.

We can’t wait to share even more stories from this unforgettable journey.

We had amazing soccer, volleyball, and netball games today in conjunction with Hope For Kenya, Joy School International! Students from schools with disabilities and those without rarely get to interact with each other. Students from B.L. Tezza School for the Deaf got to teach students from Joy School some sign language and spend the day learning more about each other. Athletics is such an incredible way to teach each school that they're not so different from each other.

We’ve been spending so much time with these amazing children…and making a lot of sandwiches! One of the things that makes B.L. Tezza School for the Deaf so special is the way the children care for one another. They are always looking out for each other, making sure everyone has something and that no one is left out. It’s a beautiful reminder of what true community looks like.

Dylan also got a little “bedazzled” by the kids, joined in some line dancing, and fully embraced the fun! We were also blessed to spend time visiting with our friends from Hope for Kenya, making an already incredible few days even more special.

We’re having an amazing time, and we can’t wait to share more of this journey with you over the next few days. Thank you for following along and being part of it with us! ❤️🇰🇪

When you sponsor a child at B.L. Tezza School for the Deaf, you’re doing so much more than changing one life, you’re strengthening an entire school community. Because our resources are shared, each sponsorship helps provide nutritious meals, clothing, school supplies, and medical care for every child at the school. It also ensures that children can remain in a safe, loving environment where they are free to learn, grow, and thrive.

Ready to change a life?

For just $38 a month, you can make a life-changing difference, not only for the child you sponsor, but for dozens of children whose lives are touched by your generosity. While we were spending time with the students, we learned about a new child who had only recently been brought to the school. She has cerebral palsy and, for the first ten years of her life, had been hidden away from the world. During our visit, she began experiencing multiple seizures every minute. Susan and Mackenzie immediately took her to the hospital, where she received emergency treatment. Thankfully, the seizures became less frequent, but she will need to travel to a larger hospital for further evaluation, testing, and a long-term care plan. We are now raising funds to provide her with a specialized wheelchair and other essential supplies that will help keep her safe, comfortable, and give her greater independence. While Susan and Mackenzie were at the hospital, Dylan, Aspen, and Beth continued serving at the school by distributing much-needed supplies to the students and sewing mattress covers for children who needed them. Of course, we needed a break to teach some line dancing! Dylan and Aspen did an amazing job teaching our students a little "boot scootin'." Mackenzie, Beth, and Aspen were all given KSL name signs too! And we have some incredible news! Thanks to your generous donations, the school's well pump is being repaired RIGHT NOW! Just days ago, the children were walking a 1.5-mile round trip several times each day, carrying heavy buckets of water back to the school. Because of your support, those long walks will soon be over, and clean water will once again be available right on campus. Every day reminds us that ministry often looks different than we planned. Sometimes it's delivering supplies. Sometimes it's sitting beside a hospital bed. Sometimes it's restoring clean water. And sometimes it's simply making sure a child, one who has spent far too long unseen, is finally seen, loved, and cared for. Thank you to everyone who has prayed, donated, and stood alongside Hearts That Hear. Your generosity is changing lives in ways we could never accomplish alone.

Today was an unforgettable day at B.L. Tezza School for the Deaf. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with incredible dancing, including an amazing Irish Step Dance performance by students whose routine has earned them a place at Kenya's National Music Festival. After the welcome, our team made peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for every student to enjoy as a special snack. There were lots of smiles (and plenty of peanut butter!).We also learned that the school's well pump is no longer working. Because of that, the students and staff must make the 1.5-mile walk to the lake to collect water for their daily needs, multiple times a day. We joined the children on that walk today, and it was a powerful reminder of the challenges they face with such incredible resilience. There are so many ways you can make a difference right now, from helping repair the well pump to providing wheelchairs for two students and assisting with urgent medical needs.
