Ever have a moment where a single comment, mistake, or rejection sends you into a sudden emotional drop?

One minute you’re fine, and the next, your body feels heavy, your chest tightens, and a quiet voice takes over whispering: "There’s something wrong with me."

If this feels familiar, you might be experiencing a shame spiral.

For those living with C-PTSD, complex trauma, or recovering from relational abuse, shame spirals often happen on fast forward. Your body registers emotional pain or perceived rejection as a threat to your safety, causing your nervous system to go into high alert or complete shutdown.

The most important thing to know? A shame spiral is not who you are—it’s a physical and emotional reaction your body is having.

In our latest article, Understanding the Shame Spiral: How Deep Emotional Overwhelm Happens and How to Soften It, we break down:

The subtle difference between guilt ("I made a mistake") and shame ("I am a mistake")

Why your body reacts so strongly to emotional stress and perceived rejection

4 gentle, practical steps to slow the spiral and return to steady ground

Helping Your Child Thrive When Parental Anxiety Feels Overwhelming

For busy parents juggling work, caregiving, and constant decision-making, parental anxiety can become a quiet background noise that’s hard to shut off. The tension is real: even when adults try to hold it together, the impact of parental stress can seep into routines, reactions, and the emotional tone at home. Over time, that strain can influence children’s emotional well-being and strain family mental health, adding weight to everyday parenting challenges without anyone doing anything “wrong.” Recognizing this pattern helps families name what’s happening and protect connection.

The effects of narcissistic abuse don't stop when you leave the relationship, even if you go no contact. Or even after you resolve the CPTSD, and the flashbacks finally cease.

If left unresolved, they manifest more relationships like the last one because the beliefs created still remain, many of them didn't even start in the last relationship, many began long before you were even able to choose your first friend.

You aren't a magnet for narcissists and toxic people, but they do notice you quickly, usually before you notice them truly.

That hardest part is that you didn't do anything to deserve it, no matter what your heart tells you, or your brain repeats. But only you can stop it from happening again by doing the deeper work and making the changes needed.

You can change this by finally being the one to choose you

Ever wake up with your heart racing, cold sweats, or a heavy wave of dread before your feet even touch the floor?

For a long time, I brushed this off as "just anxiety." I told myself I was just busy, stressed, or needed to try harder. But living in constant survival mode isn't just everyday anxiety—it's your body holding onto things your mind hasn't processed.

When you're running on fumes, it's hard to see that your quality of life has hit zero.

I wrote a deep dive on how to recognize when it’s actually more than anxiety—and what it really takes to break out of the cycle without spending years stuck in it.

An important part of the healing journey is how we relate to our friends, family, and loved ones after abuse. While well meaning, our loved ones may want to bring up what we've been through and what we are feeling.

The harmful part of this, is that they may not understand what you've been through if they haven't experienced it, and that could mean they minimize the experience and pain you are going through.

Another important factor is that the brain doesn't distinguish imagination from reality, and when you talk about the trauma and experiences it's like you are replaying all of those memories and your brain is forced to watch, sending signals to your body and nervous system that it's happening to you now.

I've written a short blog post about this, and how to protect your peace using boundaries that support your healing!

Stop Letting Your Past Steal Your Future: Break Free from CPTSD & Narcissistic Abuse
All too often, we carry our history deep within our nervous system—dragging the past behind us, walking on eggshells, and feeling bound to old cycles of hypervigilance, guilt, and self-doubt.

If you’ve experienced CPTSD, relational trauma, or narcissistic abuse, you may have spent years researching personality disorders and intellectualizing what happened. But while research helps you understand the story, intellectualizing isn't what rewires the brain or heals the nervous system.

Trauma stores at a visceral, subconscious level. Repeating the story over and over in conventional talk therapy can keep you stuck in the loop—or worse, re-traumatize you.

A Somatic, Root-Cause Solution That Actually Works
My practice, Healing Beyond Trauma, is built on a simple premise: Your history should never dictate your destiny.

Instead of forcing you to relive painful memories or talk in circles, I utilize Integral Eye Movement Therapy (IEMT) and Transpersonal Hypnosis to address trauma across all layers—body, mind, heart, and spirit:

Nervous System Stabilization: Unplug the internal "false alarms" driving emotional flashbacks, anxiety, and survival mode.
Identity Imprint Clearing: Release deep-seated guilt, self-doubt, and subconscious programs forged in abusive dynamics.
Breaking Codependency: Shift from people-pleasing or fawning to becoming an empowered empath who creates, maintains, and protects firm boundaries.
Untethering from the Past: Safely update how your system holds history so you can finally feel heard, accepted, and truly free.
From Surviving to Thriving
Clients often report feeling noticeably lighter after their very first session—finally gaining the internal clarity, peace, and self-trust needed to make real, lasting life changes. Together, we address the parts of you that have been standing in your way or sabotaging your success so you can align your energy, step into your authentic power, and build the life you truly deserve.

Oh my God! I had watched some of this happening in real time without fully knowing what was occurring.

Absolutely mind blowing 🤯 and really gives the play by play of what going through a gut wrenching experience with a narcissist/cluster b disordered person is like, soul shattering in most cases and terrifyingly deadly in others.

Relatable, educational, and allowing others to see what it looks like as the mask slips.

My only regret is this movie isn’t available for purchase, I already want to watch it again! I will be recommending this to coaching clients on their path to healing, as they will feel validated, and seen. It will help them move past the hope of saving someone who cannot be saved.

I hope that everyone we got to see and who shared their vulnerable journey here heals to the fullest.

Thank you for this stunning documentary. 🤯

Getting a restful sleep is so crucial after trauma, and yet trauma can have a major impact on sleep!

Here are somethings you can do to improve your sleep post trauma.

When trauma gets stuck in the body, it doesn’t only show up in flashbacks or triggers during the day. It can quietly, invisibly shape your sleep. How you lie in

Overcoming Narcissistic Abuse

The most insidious part of Narcissistic Abuse isn't what happened to you (although that was horrific enough!), it's not even the way it destroys your identity, shatters self trust, takes over the nervous system, and cripples joy.

It's the reason you don't feel authentic and like you can freely express yourself! The reason you don't recognize yourself as you've been buried alive by grief, depression and anxiety, or more complex ptsd, like a nightmare rollercoaster you never wanted to be on and can't get off. There are days when you are questioning your sanity, and who you even are.

Many of us spend years, researching NPD, BPD, and other Cluster B Personality Disorders, many of us know the whole sequence of behaviors and events and can even help friends spot red flags, but knowing isn't what makes us heal, its just the thing that makes us feels safe until we do. I personally fell into that false safety of knowing for at least 4 years, as my coach once said "Each of us could write a Ph.D." with all of the videos we'd watched, articles read, research and conversations had, it's the education we never wanted, but got just to feel like we could be okay again.

Some people never escape that trap... and instead they become isolated because family and friends don't know what's wrong or why they can't just move on from what happened, and they cannot bear to hear yet another rambling recollection as you try to piece your life together. Slowly people stop listening, stop returning texts, and quietly remove themselves from witnessing your suffering while not knowing what to do. Maybe even some don't believe you, because they can't fathom what they themselves have never been through. Worse, they believe the perpetrators' lies, falling for the masks they wear!

If all of this isn't bad enough, without the right help recovering - where you heal the wounds that caused them to be attracted to you, you will likely attract another similarly dysfunctional relationship, repeating the whole set of patterns and traumas all over again or possibly even worse. The most insidious part of narcissistic abuse, it doesn't just steal a couple of years, if under healed it can pervade decades and even a whole life time before someone identifies that they're a survivor.

You've found me, which means I know you are here to do more than just survive! If you are ready to move towards thriving, we need to begin your recovery first.
