🌟 July 2026 Employee of the Month 🌟

Please join us in congratulating Perla Mejia, our July Employee of the Month at Fort Bend Rheumatology Associates! 💙👏

Perla has made an incredible impact through her compassion, dedication, and servant leadership. Whether caring for patients, supporting her teammates, or stepping up wherever she is needed, Perla consistently demonstrates what it means to put others first.

Her peers shared so many examples of what makes her deserving of this recognition:

💬 “She serves our community with genuine compassion and a deep commitment to the mission of FBRA. She consistently steps up wherever she is needed, often going above and beyond without seeking acknowledgment.”

When a patient needed assistance after a minor injury in the parking lot, Perla immediately stepped in to help and made sure the patient was okay. She has also volunteered her personal time to assist Dr. Hernandez at the San José Clinic and even prepared and led a Bible study for our staff, helping foster encouragement and community within our team.

Her coworkers also recognize how quickly she has grown in her role:

🌟 **June 2026 Employees of the Month: The “June 1st Crew”** 🌟

This month, we’re doing something a little different. Instead of recognizing one individual, we’re celebrating an **entire team**. 💙👏

Congratulations to our **“June 1st Crew”**, Fort Bend Rheumatology Associates’ June Employees of the Month!

June 1st brought some unexpected challenges to our Sugar Land office. **The building lost power, internet, and air conditioning**, creating a situation where a lot could have gone wrong. While other medical offices on our floor closed for the day, our team came together and continued caring for our patients.

From coordinating with our Lake Jackson office and checking in patients, to keeping patients informed and moving on schedule, our team stepped up wherever they were needed. Some staff even came in on their days off, while others went out to gather supplies to ensure medications remained at safe temperatures.

Through it all, our providers and staff remained **calm, positive, flexible, and focused on our patients.**

One teammate summed it up perfectly:

💬 *“Everyone stayed calm, supported one another, and stepped in wherever help was needed. It was a great example of teamwork, professionalism, and dedication under challenging circumstances.”*

🩺 Now Enrolling Clinical Research Participants 🩺

Fort Bend Rheumatology Associates is currently enrolling volunteers for clinical research studies that may help advance future treatments for autoimmune and inflammatory conditions.

You may qualify if you:

🔹 Have Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE/Lupus)
• Ages 18–70
• Diagnosed with Lupus for more than 6 months

🔹 Have Polymyalgia Rheumatica (PMR)
• Ages 50 or older
• Diagnosed within the past 8 weeks, or
• Experienced a relapse within the past year after initially responding to treatment

Participating in clinical research helps advance medicine and may provide access to investigational treatments under the care of experienced medical professionals.

📢 Friendly Reminder: Office Closure Tomorrow

As a reminder, Fort Bend Rheumatology Associates will be closed tomorrow, Friday, July 17, as our team participates in a staff retreat.

Our offices will reopen and resume normal business hours on Monday, July 20.

If you need to reach us, please contact our office today. Any voicemails, patient portal messages, or emails received while we are closed will be returned as soon as possible when we reopen on Monday.
